True...but you can't just take a spark plug out and get a proper reading, if you were checking the main jet then you would have to go full throttle for about 20-30seconds then cut the ignition and then read the plug, same for the midrange as about 5/8-3/4 throttle and same for the idle. But without doing the test like that then it's hard to say where you are rich.
Are you still running the stock plug?, they are not very good and could also lead to the black fouled plug you seen, i'd start with a fresh NGK CR7HSA, you can get them at Canadain Tire, part # 018-3670-6, there about $7.99 for a two pack.
