Dang weather......
I swear....Mrs 2LZ and I have had a vacation planned for more than 6 months! For the first time in my LIFE, 2 weeks off in a row.
Week 1- Bike camping on the Vics. Nor Cal....Lassen area in particular. Set up at Old Station....do day rides out. See Mt Lassen and the park....Shasta.....Burney Falls, etc.....Great camp ground. Camp fires....steaks over the grill, cold beer. Wind in the face...Mmmmmm..... Week 2- Load up the China bikes and head up to her families cabin in Donner. (Truckee Ca.) Ride the USFS fire roads forever at 8-9000 feet!! Day rides....pics for here....picnic lunches on the China bikes, tri-tip on the BBQ at night....more cold beer, etc...etc... Mmmmmmm...... Well.....thanks to the weather....ALMOST EVERYWHERE WE WANT TO GO RIGHT NOW IS STILL GETTING FRESH COATS OF SNOW!!!!!!! I'm thinking of trading in all my bikes for a pair of Polaris RMK's! Now I know this doesn't mean much to WA....but for us PRK guys....it has all but nuked our plans! Man........ :x

It snowed back in February. That means Atlanta shut down.
It sounds like you need to just spend two weeks on the china bikes. Knobbies do okay in snow.

Its the El Nino pattern. We had only one month here too cold to ride last winter (December) and the PRK got slammed. Next year might be the opposite. BTW I climbed Mt Lassen twice as part of a couple summertime's motorcycle vacations. Both times it snowed on the mountain, once so much it had me worried. I was thinking Donner party, and I was the skinny one in the group, if you get my drift. On one of those rides we had to ride very carefully back to out motel in Mineral because of snow and slush on the roads. In July.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad weather, LZ. I guess we can blame it all on "global warming."

Well.....after a few phone calls in the last couple days to our USFS Ranger station in Truckee....and chatting with the OHV person....where Mrs 2LZ is standing here in the pic....is still closed due to snow. They still have snow machines running there.....but the lower elevations behind her in the pic by the lakes there....are open to ride! So!.....we're going to put the little China bikes through their paces! Pics to follow in a couple weeks!
Boy.....tomorrow and Saturday....take the Vics to an overnight BBQ, bon fire and party in the hills at a friends place (I already have our trailer set up and waiting 8) ).....Sunday....come home, prep, load up and head for the summit with the China bikes! Seems this vacation could work out after all!
