After Market External Chain Tensioner
Anyone have a recommendation for an external chain tensioner such as pictured below and had good luck with it? I have fabrication skills, including welding so I am not married to a specific one or limited.
Looking to add one to my sons TaoTao ATA 125D. |

FWIW I bought one for a project I was doing. Piece of crap.i wouldn't even use it on a kids toy. So much slop in every possible place.

Update
No, I did not, the further I dug into these options, they all seemed to not last or perform well. So, I chose to take a few hours, lots of measurements, adjustments and fabricated a better set of chain tensioner bolts that allowed for finer adjustments, nylon locking nuts etc.. I then rode it myself (300lbs) and towed kids in a sled with it to test it out and didn't notice any chain derailment or loosening. |

chain tensioner
I think when you have one of these... you do not check your chain enough and then it comes off.... check your chain and keep it tighten right... it will be better in the end... small checks to riding safey and to not have the chain cover break... do not reply on this to keep the chain tight
