you guys might try that dupont chain lube spray at walmart. don't have to remove anything. just use the plastic tube to spray some in to the top of the cable until it runs out the bottom like wd 40. go eat a sandwich and it will change inside the cable to a dry waxy/ pfe like anti friction coating on the cable. slicker than u know what! if you spray it on the concrete and let it do its thing, you can't hardly stand on it
on a good std mcycle chain, you can approach the life of an O ring one

They changed the composition formula

The new formula doesn't seem to last as long between applications. I was lucky to find several containers of the "old formula" online and stocked up. I wish DuPont would return to the old formula! |

With all the electronic stuff we have nowadays, why are we using a spinning cable in a sheath? That seems like late nineteenth/early twentieth century technology for god's sake. I'm guessing the German, Japanese and American bikes built now use a better technology?

I understand we're living in CB World here, but how do they do speedometer sensors and cables in that far off 21st century? This is my first motorcycle in 21 years, so I'm not familiar with today's motorcycle tech. Please tell me there's a better way than a spinning cable in a sheath that breaks if it's bent too much.

That said, this could be the motivation I need to jump to mjstef's setup once it's done. Mrs. 2LZ really like the sweeping tach and digital speedo on the RX3 and this would cure that problem.

Yep, emailed him yesterday, cable shipped out already. Great service as always. We'll see if this one lasts.
