Any momentary switch will work but I use one like this which incorporates a kill switch.

Don't trust ANY color code (maybe for other brand/ low paid worker in BAD mood ...) in non genuine parts . Use multimeter find out which is which 1st.

Get on eBay and search for pit bike start button and you'll see lots of options. The simplest ones have just 2 wires like this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-St...VWxmzZ&vxp=mtr
Different bikes use different wiring methods for the switch and solenoid, either breaking/completing the circuit in the battery + side or the ground side, the ground side being the most common. |

can't run DC from the battrey as it will burn out quicker than you can blink.. the AC current is picked up from the rectifier... AC current & DC current can NOT come in contact with each other so a Diode has to be in the system.... So make sure you get the correct wires.... ..

Its time to post some pictures of your bike so we can see what you're working with. Do you need a new switch because your original switch went bad? If so a new exact matching switch should be easy enough to find and it will likely have matching wire colors and plug ends. It does not appear you have much experience with this type of stuff but we can help you learn if you provide us with some more information. Maker/name/pictures of the bike and what exactly you are trying to get done to it.

I already bought a ignition switch but i don't think i wired it correctly. I bought the switch and mindlessly plugged it into a plug from my harness that fit perfectly, so i assumed that it was hooked up properly, each wire matched colors also. Heres the switch i bought http://www.amazon.com/GOOFIT-Wires-I...y+go+fit+200cc Do you think i should somehow connect the switch i bought to my starter solenoid instead of the plug that fit it perfectly?

Yes ,post #4 above clearly states don't trust the wiring on these switches and parts ,get a meter or a test light and figure out what is going on .If you built the cart ,theiring should of been easy .
