Spud has had excellent luck with Tsubaki chains, and they're very reasonably priced online.

im going to start buying those goodies for the Gio shortly.
one thing that i really really want to do is upgrade the bolts, nuts and screw because everytime i go out for a ride i find something else thats loose. Whats the best way for going about replacing all the bolts? I dont think they're are kits for that.. Do i take everything apart and bring all the bolts the hardware store? i like that intake ;P but my carb is a 30mm.... i dont think a 42mm would fit well |

The filter will fit your carb perfectly; 42mm is the outside dimension, whereas 30mm is inside the carb. I've installed several of them.
I took a few bolt samples to my favourite fastener store and bought several socket head cap screws in stainless. That said, you can use the stock bolts, but you need to use blue Loctite with whichever bolts you choose. Just one drop on a bolt is enough. You can buy a kit full of Metric bolts from the local motorcycle shop, but that's the expensive way.

the gio keeps flooding! GRRRR:@
she was running great for the past 4 rides since i put a new fuel line and cleaned the carb. the bikes stall and floods if i dont hold gas, it seems like there is a small gas leak aswell. i guess its time to take the carb apart again to check to see if the floats and needle are ok and verify fuel lines .... |

I don't know if this has been addressed but you may want to consider Weld's Famous Mikuni Upgrade for about $40. :wink:

im going to se if i can patch the gio up, so i can get a few more rides this season......
-i saw a few 30mm Mikuni on ebay for 40$ shipping included. -the pz30 repair kit was like 20$ +20$shipping..... :l -Hey Weld, can you post a link on ebay to the same carburetor you baught. did you buy a specific jet set as well? im going to bring in the bike this fall to get tuned by professionals - im going to start buying all the goodies i need shortly, so if anyone has some good recomendations Holler! |

You won't need a professional, or a jet kit. Once you receive the carb, remove the main and slow jets and take them to the local Yamaha shop. Don't tell them what type of bike you have, just buy a 110 main and a 25 slow jet; that will get you started. If you have a cable choke, you will need to swap your existing choke lever over to the new carb. Piece of gâteau.

I've installed several, but I haven't put one on a bike like yours. I presume that it will clear the frame, but it would be great if you could show us some pics of it installed.

for the intake, i think the angle will be perfect, i might get an adapteur4-5 inchs to be able to send the intake into part of the old air box to shield it from dirt,water etc
of course. i will take many pics and post a new Build-up/upgrade thread and maybe re-cap on the whole de-bugging process as well. I wanted to play around with the gearing a bit, id like the Gio to have more torque and less top speed. I know that right now my final drive is 15:48 . If i were to put a 14 tooth front sproket would i have to change the rear sproket aswell? or take a link out of my chain?! would it be possible to put the Gio 14:48 with a 428-128L chain? thanks |
