Delphi is ok but confused people and it has a fewniggly things and not perfect. There’s not much diag stuff and I’ve found most issues are easier solved without it as the diag only shows direct faults but not the imperfections in running which more or less know what common sensors etc just need replacement |

I don't even take my XR 650L on interstates and freeways. It does 80MPH easy but the wind and bad drivers over stretches of hundreds or thousands of miles..
I did go from NC to FL once using only highways and state roads but that took a long time.. |

No you got that backward, kinda. The hawk was baed on the nx150 bros.
That said the hawk makes a good platform for a replica build. Mine is a red hawk, with the frame painted red, has an xl500 engine on it and, xr350 forks, swingarm and shock. The guy at the honda shop thought it was a Dominator. Asked if i had changed the fairing or something.. so he know something was different but being thet we never had alot of them here he misidentified the bike. When I handed him the registration he said, Oh! I may just sticker it up and call it a replica.

250-400cc engines
I have done a little internet research, as sure as some of you folks, and I have found there are 350 and 400cc sized engines made by the Chinese, however, most only get about 25 hp max, whereas KTM 390 gets quite a bit more. It would be nice to see the Chinese market make a 325, 350 which would have at least 30 hp, to bolt into these bikes. It would add a little more torque and on-road performance for the American roads.
The second problem of buying that other than 233cc engine would be parts for the 300cc or 400cc, I have no idea where to look, and I don't trust the Taobao or Alibata websites My wife lives in Brazil at the moment, and I am trying to see if she can get me a Honda XRE300cc engine, which is air-cooled and about 25 hp. Megadan says its right, if they were to design a machine which has a better front and rear suspension, a little bit more hp, and a couple of little other things, it would be a great little bike for $3,000.

Not to be a wet blanket here, If you drop 30 + Hp in a China bike you'll have a HUGE smile followed by a reaizaion the swing arm / rear shock won't take large jumps and the front forkes are WAY too thin. You'll find the limits fast, upgrades will be next. Cush drive, bigger front brakes, suspension.
I love the idea !!

These 250s can get pretty hot if you work them on the trail.
A liquid jacketed ZS 297cc is available on some imports we have available. Counterbalanced, DOHC, and 6 speed, too. I haven't found one that is street legal out of the box, but their are conversion kits for lighting. Some "300" are 270-ish displacement making 25hp, but the 297cc engine makes 30hp. This sounds great! One example of this is the TM38 (Trailmaster). It's about $4k right now.
