Flasher Relay Mods
Hawk flasher relay is slow, very slow, especially for driving in the traffic. Raising the blinking frequency is simple. Need just one resistor to replace as shown on the picture.
To turn off the beeper permanently just cut one or both red and blue wires. Personally, I prefer to have a beeper, but on the Hawk it is pretty loud. Cover the hole with electrical insulation tape, and it will be politely quiet. In addition, the tape will prevent the dust coming inside the flasher. |

How did you determine which resistor to change? How did you determine the value?

R3 is the part of the timing circuit connected to the Q1 base. I found it, looking at PCB layout.
Cut out original resistor. Soldered temporary pot instead. Adjusted the flashing frequency as I like, than measured pot's resistance with DMM and install resistor with that measured value. |

Excellent. Would you require a linear taper pot for that?

There is another way to speed up turn signal lamps. Replace ONE, and one only bulb on each side with an LED bulb. The reduced load speeds up the blinkers. Works on my car, anyway. ....ARH

That works, but the blinking frequency is unpredictable and depends on the flasher schematic design. |
