Help with installing FMF turbine core 2 universal
http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...er=asc&start=0
Spud I read that post and it helped some but the problem i have is that when i took off the muffler and tried to install the fmf and pipe that came with it was about 6 inches or so too short. did you guy cut off some of the old exhaust and use it? Spud i looked close to your pictures and the SS header you have looks longer to make up the difference. just wanted to check with you guys before i cut off some of my old muffler. thanks alan |

http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...er=asc&start=0 The information you need is located on the second page of the above thread. However, you will learn a lot if you read the entire thread. Forum member Madbare posted several photos of his TC2 installation later in the thread. Since I used a longer, Yamaha, XT225 exhaust header, I actually needed to trim a bit from my FMF midpipe. If you have time, please take a few photos, and post the information regarding your TC2 installation. I am sure your experience will help a fellow Zongite in the future! Spud

Allen ,I originally cut my pipe right in front of the muffler just to be sure i had enough, then Test fit and found I had to remove a little till I got it where it was in the right mounting spot.

fmf pipe
As you can see I messed up and should have measured twice and cut once. I now have made more work if I ever decided to reinstall the stock muffler, but i don't foresee that happening.

Spud....will that muffler pass the California Coat hanger test?
I.E.....everytime you see a Ranger out in the woods or pay to get into the OHV park, they take a piece of coathanger (or whatever) and stick it in the end of your pipe.... It better stop.....meaning a screen or diversion across the opening to stop sparks. If they can slide it all the way in on a Green Stickered bike....it's a pretty fat ticket. :x

Thanks Spud! I'll have to shop around. I'm sure this will be the way I go. I see that there's different exhaust diameters available and also, styles and mounting. I like how yours mounts with the movable strap. So far, the ones I've found online have fixed bracketing.
Time to surf! The GY is in dire need of a different system.

Thanks again, Spud! You really are a WEALTH of information!....even for us Non-Zongers! 8)
I'm going to go home tonight and do some pipe measuring and order it from OEMcycle. Is the mid pipe included there or do you have to order it seperate? It shows a pipe with the silencer in the pic. Sure would like to upsize the midpipe. Mine's set up where the header pipe is actually larger and then necks down to the smaller diameter mid pipe. Kinda lame......

Change of plans....
Ended up ordering it from Motorcycle Superstore, as a bunch of my riding buddy's wanted to place tire orders for the summer...... Free shipping is a good thing! Can't wait to get it installed. Hopefully it will be as easy on a GY Honda clone as the Zongs!
