Factory muffler = spark arrestor in Tennessee.
Went riding in the mountains today, got stopped at a Forestry Service checkpoint coming out. They checked my paperwork etc... and then we just stood around chatting (four men and a woman.. all of them interested in my Lifan.). I just happened to think about it and asked if I was legal without a spark arrestor... turns out the factory muffler serves as an arrestor. As long as there is not a clear path through the muffler, it's considered legal as an arrestor. Mine is drilled on the end and still passed since the stick wouldn't go in more than 3".
I'm sure different states/provinces will be different, but I just thought I'd pass along that the TWRA will pass a stock Lifan muffler. |

Alot of areas require the muffler to have USFS approved printed on the outside of it.

I know they have to be USFS approved here in missouri. Already been disappointed to have ran into this problem.
