Oil change and type?
My Apollo 250 will be here tomorrow and I know on my old bikes it was just shipping oil and not to leave it in very long before changing it out.
What oil does this bike take? And how long should I wait before changing it out? |

Go get some 10w 40 MOTORCYCLE oil. Not synthetic. You can switch to that after 1000 miles or so. What ever you do make sure it is "wet clutch" compatible.
Change the oil BEFORE you crank it for the first time. Drive it like you stole it. Change it at 100 miles, 300 miles, then 600 miles. Then change it every 500 to 1000 miles depending on how dusty it is around you. You probably know you just started the "oil thread" of the month. And I just started the break-in debate. Lol

Just Google "motorcycle wet clutch oil". I think that one you found will work. It should say on the front or at least on the back about wet clutch tho. I now use yamalube 10w 40. At yamaha dealers everywhere! Edit: says synthetic. Wait until you have broken it in before using synthetic. Your rings will thank you.

I have been using Rotella T4 15w40 with great results. Cheap and readily available from a lot of places, including big box stores like Walmart. It is labeled as diesel oil, but carries the JASO MA rating for wet clutches.

cheaper to buy it branded as Motul.. before 2008 they used Vavoline.. Motorbike / car manufactures recommend to use there semi synthetic oils to run a new motor in.... Having to use mineral based oils for brake in is a internet thing... ..

There is a view hole to see the oil level too, just make sure the bike is upright when viewing!
