New in Florida
Hey Chinariders,
My name is Matt and I just got a Ricardo 250 enduro made by Hi-Bird about a month ago. I bought from National Wholesale Tools. It came with no paperwork in the box (no assemble instructions and no owners manuel). I was able to assemble it with the help of a few pix from different web sites. Now I'm having trouble with their customer service and their willingness to provide me with an owners manuel. About two weeks after it was delivered I did receive the MOS and was able to licenes it here in Florida wiht out a problem. I like the bike, It has 100 miles on it now with no problems. I did an exhaulst mod. and it seemed to make it breath a little better. I was glad to find this site, as I'm sure it will become helpful in the near future. Thanks |

No pix. I just cut the end of the can out and removed the tube baffling and increased the tail piece from its original 1/2" to about 3/4". It sounds a little throatier but still plenty quiet.

Welcome Dirt,
What part of FL are you from? To start with the owners manuals are crap, don't bother all the info you need is right here+some, you need to be jumping for joy that Tally didn't give you a hassle about registration, you seemed to have a exhaust issue but you fixed it...GO RIDE and ENJOY it bro, post pics, ride reports, let us know how everythings going, we'll be here for you if it breaks...

Welcome. Yes the manual for my Hi Bird was actually for a 200 and pretty much worthless except for the humor. Mine actually tells how to shift into reverse! If you have yours put together and ridden it, your way beyond what the manual will tell you IMO.

Thanks for all the welcomes... hey Ambassador, I live in Bradenton also.
And yes, I think this site will more than compensate for a missing manuel. Great site, Thanks

Dirt,
Did they send the MSO on their own, or did you have to get on their case Been considering the Ricardo, if only they had yellow, or green>> looks like a great bike. What is your assessment of the bike, good and bad?? Thanks,

Elroy,
I had already been hounding them for paperwork when they sent the MSO. I belive they would have sent it any way, but the other missing paperwork should have been in the box with the bike and they are drop shippers so they are having a hard time with that. As far as the bike, I like it. I expected a lot more power out of it, but then again I'm used to riding my Harley and it makes the 250 seem some what of a toy. I got this bike because I just bought property at the Ocala forest and there are plenty of dirt roads all through the forest that need to be explored by me. I think the bike will be just fine for that after I do a little tweaking and get it geared right and a few other mods I have planed. Thanks for asking, Dirt

May be ordering my Ricardo tonight or at least in the next week. Exploring dirt roads should be a blast! Looking forward to doing some touring around WV with mine. If you get a chance, could you see which motor (chinese manufacturers id-number) your bike has and if it has a Mikuni carb or some other brand. Surprised it's rated at 15 hp when the HiBird 250 is rated at 20hp. They appear to both be overhead cam. Does the bike recommend 93 oct? What gearing are you considering?

Elroy,
My bike has engine # 169FFM , the carb is a SHENG WEY, It is an over head cam. As far as octane, I don't know what is recomended because I don't have a manuel. I've been running 93 anyway since it doesn't use much anyway, (compaired to my other toys). Factory sprockets on this one are 17/50, I'm going to either 17/46 or 17/43. It appears this bike is exactly the same as the Komoto 250 by Hi-bird and except for the forks and back brake it appears the same as the Hi-bird 250. I don't know where the difference in HP ratings come from. I think maybe the vendor just comes up with a number. 20hp is a little hard for me to belive any of them would have. Where were you going to order yours from? The only 2 sites I know of that have the Ricardo 250 are both out of stock. Where are you or where do you go in WV. I was born in Huntington, a long time ago, Iv'e lived here since 1967.
