Tao tao duel shock conversion
Changed out the shocks on my tao, the stock ones were so stiff in sucked to ride it. I use the cheapo air shocks off ebay. On the rear the single shock was to weak and it bottomed out ( I weight 245) So I set it up with both shocks as a duel conversion. No more bottoming out and it ride so much better. Pretty easy to pull off.

Should work well. Single one works for me but I did crank up the preload about 3/4".

That looks great. Do you have a link for the shocks? Any write up and how you accomplished the setup?

I bought them on ebay, You need to measure the length of your shock center to center on the mounting bolts. There are lots of different lengths to choose from. Get the closest you can find to what you have on the bike. The ones I got were 1/4-1/2 inch longer than stock. Get some longer bolts that fit closely to the ID of the shock bushings. The shocks come with three different bushing sizes. Mine worked out to 4 1/2 in long bolts. Use the plastic bushings out of the old shocks to make a spacer to go inside the mounts, I also used one of the bushings from the new shocks to make a spacer inside of the mounts to take up the space. I cut it with a hack saw, used half on the bottom mount and half on the top. Also put some large flat washers on the out side of the shocks to keep the rubber bushes from sliding over the bolts heads. The shocks will now mount on the out side of the mounts instead of inside. I had the move the brake reservoir slightly to clear the shock. Just take it off and bend the mount forward enuuf to clear the shock then bolt it back on.
