Taotao 125f ATV running temp 500°? ?
Good day to all. I been running crazy temperatures of over 500 taken with a ir thermometer at the plug and 230for oil everything still runs fine and gave no symptoms anyone know what's going on?

How did u fix it? Well I pulled the plug and it looks great no sign of running lean. What do u think? Too much weight on it? Maybe cuz it was on paved road ? Idk where to look honeslty.

It's running lean. They come tuned real lean from the factory in order to pass EPA. Change out the main jet to the next size up and adjust the idle mixture too. You will probably have a brass plug covering the idle mixture screw that will need to be drilled out the access it. The bowl tamper resistant screws can be slotted with a Dremel or hack saw to remove them.

The stock carb was jetted so lean it took me three jet changes to get our little quad running correctly but it runs flawlessly now. For our New Cheetah we need to go way richer on both the Pilot & the Main. Also needed a small change on the needle setting and our air/fuel mix adjustment as well. On the PZ22 carb the mixture screw is on the intake side of the carb body but it is not a 'fuel screw' like most carbs that have the screw on the intake side of the carb. The mix screw on the PZ22 is an 'air screw'. If you keep running your quad at the high temps. you reported you will 'fry' the stator and lose your spark. My advice is to either modify your stock carb like Jerryhawk250 suggested, or get a new tunable version and a hand full of jets. You can't really hurt anything by experimenting with carb changes. If you make it run worse you can always go back to the stock settings and rethink the adjustments you might need. Good luck. |

So check this out I been running 15w40 instead of 20w50 and it was pretty hot outside and the quad was loaded like 120lb over weight limit so I'm gonna start with oil and ride around 1 passenger only and see what happens.
