Hawk 250 Gas Cap Doesnt Seem to Fully Close
Has any other Hawk 250 owners notice that the Hawk 250's gas cap is rather difficult to lock down and seal correctly? When I finally get my gas cap to close enough to get my key to lock it into place, the gas cap just doesnt seem to be fully closed. It appears as if there is a gap in the gas cap when locked into place and I just dont feel confident that it is fully sealed when locked. It is very aukward to close and I am not sure I have the right touch or if this is just a flaw in the Hawk 250. Is this a known issue with the Hawk gas cap, or is it that I just dont have the finesse to get it to fully lock into position when I turn the key to lock it? I press down with a good amount of force before turning the key to lock it, but the result is that the gas cap seems to have a gap beteen itself and the gas fill hole.
I have always owned bikes/atvs with gas caps that had actual threads to screw the gas caps in, but this bike has a push-and-lock gas cap mechanism which is totally new to me. When closed, my gas cap just doesnt seem to be seated in place the entire 360 degrees around my gas tank. Is this normal or do I have a defective gas cap?? Thanks!!!! |

You should not be able to remove the key when you have the gas cap off. When you push the cap down in the fill hole the key should automatically turn counterclockwise so you can remove the key and gas cap will be locked in place. You will be able to remove the key in this position.
