out the door for $1575.00
Fully assembled, with tax and tag for $1575 is what a local dealer is selling the gy-5 200 for. They say they are an AL dealer, I will verify it tomorrow. The guy seems pretty cool though.
Any input on the price? I live in Orlando Florida. |

For OTD, seems like a very good deal. Besides being "cool" make sure the guy seems competent mechanically. Does the bike have a warranty?--if its AL, it should.

I got an ebay bike for $900. It is not a Lifan (genuine or otherwise).
I think the extra money for buying from a dealer is worth it. It might be a little shocking that you're actually paying about 50% more for the dealer bike. However, you're going to pay tax and tags anyway so that's got to be worth about $150 or so (depending on sales tax rate and property tax, if applicable). I spent a lot of time researching the documentation requirements for registration, the bike wasn't EPA/DOT certified but lucky for me they didn't care. I almost got rejected over the quality of the paper the Manufactures Certificate of Origin was printed on. If I had been working with a different clerk it may have been a bigger issue. Anyway that hassle caused me a lot of worry. I'd pay an extra $100 for the correct LEGAL documents. So that puts me at $1250, still $325 less than the deal you're looking at. Consider these additional factors:
Anyway, some food for thought. If you're looking on ebay or other web sites make sure you're comparing apples to apples. The other bikes may look the same, but they if they don't market them as Lifans they are not the same as the bike you're dealer is selling.

I paid $500 for my bike off ebay and it has been a good performer. (It was used with only 4 km on the odometer) I've taken it out on rough mtn trails and logging roads as well as around town and not a bit of problem!
The whole idea in owning a China bike is 'Cheap Fun'. Once you start getting to the $2k-$3k range then you might as well start thinking of getting a Jap bike.

one of the main reasons that I wanted to buy from dealer was that I simply do not trust myself to assemble (even partially) a bike and then ride it. Kind of reminds me of John Denver.

$1575 is not a bad deal. I would go for it.
