Hi from Harrisburg, NC
Just wanted to make my first post. Been watching a while. Hope to be ordering my GY-5 this week just as soon as the W2's come in. Can't wait to get started on the assembly. Already have my check list printed out.
Anyone know of a good place to buy a helmet? I checked at my local Northern Tool. There okay but I'd rather have one with vents. Also, how should they fit? Should they be snug or a little room for movement? Thanks, Bart |

Welcome,
As far as helmets are concerned, snug is the way to go. There is nothing worse than a sloppy helmet when you hit 65mph. Can you say whiplash? 8O

abcpowersports,
You've been warned about shilling your products/site. One more and you're outta here.

Has anyone ever bought from motodirect.com? Just wandering about quality. Do any of you use the modular?

Modular helmets are great...would not buy any other new helmet for sleddin' or bikin'...Very handy if you smoke, talk , eat, drink....
In Canada it is nice to stop on the trail , and not freeze your ears off while havin' a smoke, or cooking a hotdog. Bombardier are the best...( I dislike bombs but they have the best helmets.) HJC seem good...I am not familiar with other brands.

I have a modular and love it too. If you have any local bike shops check out their helmet selection as they will sometimes have some on clearance. It is also a good way to find your size before you by online.
www.denniskirk.com and www.motorcycle-superstore.com have good sales on helmets and I have ordered from both. Allen

By modular, do you mean full face flip up? That's what I got, HJC. For smoking it's manditory. Funny enough, the B&M store where I bought it here in toronto is called motorcycle superstore, but it's not the same store. It's called riderdeals I think on ebay. Mine was $125, in Canada that's 1/2 price, same for my riding jacket. I won't ride without a full face, but flip up rocks.
OOps  Sorry Bart, Welcome, sorry for getting carried away with answers. Keep asking Questions. Mike. |

Flip face style is a modular. $125 for an HJC is a good deal.
I have found some bargains at B&M stores on helmets that were last years style. Allen
