Zongshen 200gy-a
Hello!
So after owning my bike for about 3 weeks now, I noticed that there is a "slight" oil leak.. I couldn't understand where it's coming from, until I noticed it dripping from a bolt Upon closer inspection, the bolt has somehow managed to strip inside the (block?). When taking the bolt out I saw little thread shavings from it stripping, now i'm not sure if this is bad or BAD.. How easy of a fix is this? This bolt is situated right next to the gear lever. |

It could part of a gasket on the side cover. Did you check that? It could also be your shifter seal because that where the shaft goes into the crankcase and oil will leak from there and that is my guess.

Looks like the lower front sprocket cover bolt. Mine was slightly stripped out on my Hawk as well. Not too badly as I was able to chase it with a tap. The only way to really know is to take that cover off so you can get a clear look at the hole. If it is stripped, and somehow bad enough that you can't save the threads then you have the option to Helicoil the hole. Again, I would inspect it closely before making any decisions.

Had that happen on one of my CG engines. My solution was to replace the bolt with a stud long enough to reach the threads that the bolt was too short to reach. I used Loctite on it which stopped the oil leak and held the stud tight. Just used a nylock nut to secure the cover. Been holding find for years.
