KPX 250 Valve Adjustment
I have over 750 miles on my KPX and I am now hearing some louder tappet noise. Has anyone on this forum checked or adjusted their KPX valves? I'm just wondering what adventure I have ahead of me. I have adjusted valves on my Bashan Storm and my old SL350 Honda. I expect this to be similar. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Should be similar to most OHC Hondas. Take off the access caps and set your lash. Specs are likely similar to a crf230 engine.

I checked mine when I first got it. The exhaust valve is not too bad to get to. Need to remove a couple of things to make it easier. See post #24 in my thread here. The exhaust valve did not need adjustment, as it turns out.
http://www.chinariders.net/showthrea...t=31297&page=2 The intake valve I was not able to check because of too much stuff in the way. I might be able to get in there with the right feeler gauge set. To set the rear one we may need to get one of those valve adjustment tools similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Baosity-Unive...05&sr=8-3&th=1 Edit: Specs for the valves are .08 mm intake, and .10 mm exhaust.

Yep, valve spec is almost exactly the same as a crf230f engine.

Thanks. I don't think I had the tank that high, so maybe that was the main problem.

If you need more room on the intake side you can always remove the motor mount brackets. That's what I had to do on my Ghost and X22R.

I'm thinking that when they installed the motor at the factory, they either already had the lower bolt and nut in place, then installed the intake, then put it in the bike. Or installed the entire upper mount, then the intake. I don't see how they could have accessed that lower nut with the intake already there. When I propped the tank up, I left it on the front mount and just rotated the rear of the tank up, which ID Rider did not do. Looks like he also took it off the front mount and raised the whole tank. So that may be all I have to do. BTW Jerry, once I was all cried out and got a few consoling words from my psychiatrist via phone consultation, I was fine. Mostly.

Yes I lifted the whole tank up. The front of the tank just slides on to two rubber bushings. The wiring and fuel line to the tank is long enough that I could have raised it even higher but the two short pieces of 2x4 were just the right dimension to lift it up enough and hold it level. Once you lift the tank you'll see how easy it will become. (This is coming from someone who has never done this before).
