Tyson from St Pete, FL!
New to the whole scooter thing. I bought this scooter used from a buy here pay here place. Its definatly a lifan scooter but i ran into a problem. The vin number does not match the bike, but since production it has been registered with this vin, therefore the manufacturer fu@ked up. According to the vin my scooter is a 150cc lifan. But my scooter is actually a 49.5cc with a body style that does not even match the vin. Can someone help me with this? I have pictures but dont know how to post them as i am new to this site. My American lifan dealer suggested this website to help me and now here i am

I think I would go back where you bought it and have them fix the problem IMEDIATLY or get your money back. It could be a simple mix up and the got the wrong paperwork at the dealer.
You can get into all sorts of trouble down the road. You wont be able to sell your scooter. You could get tickets for no insurance, no registration. Get your scooter impounded, etc. Everything is tied to the VIN number and it has to be perfect. |

nope, clean!
I went to the dmv with this issue they told me just that, big problems. So they told me to call the dmv compliance office to get it straightened out. But according to their computers my scooter has had that vin since it came off the lot in '07. So technically it IS the scooters vin, just not correct model that the vin states it should be...... crazy huh?

Welcome. I woudl go with what the DMV wants you to do. Ask them how they would like it to be resolved and then take the necessary steps needed to correct it.
Is the VIN different on the title than what is stamped on the frame? Allen

no...no....no
Acording to the dmv the vin which matches the one stamped on the bike is the vin it has had since it rolled off the lot. According to the dmv there is nothing wrong with the vin. My only prob is my Lifan dealer says that vin means it should be a LF150t-6 which is a 150cc, but its not. My scooter is definatly a 50cc. I just wanna know how i can identify my scooter

So there really is no problem with the registration of the scooter. Just that it is registered as a 150 and not a 50. Alot of the engines are stamped with the displacement someplace on the cylinder.

Size of the scooter looks like it could possibly be a 150, I'd have a look at the cylinder for a displacement like Kato said, I don't think I've seen any 50's with a rear brake in the floor.

First I have seen of the pictures. (can't view at work) It looks to be a 125-150cc machine. It is possible it is a 150cc frame with a 50cc engine installed in it.
