After market Fuel Mixture Screw????
So i saw a youtube video on a guy showing how to tune your fuel mixture screw and he highly suggested an aftermarket one like this. Of course he was demonstrating on a Jap bike. But it would make all our lives easier if we had one of these on our tt250s. No more using specialty tools or having to to take carb off and adjusting screw a little at a time. and better yet you can adjust on the road if need be if traveling. So for everyones sake can someone let us know what jap bike fuel mixture screw is comparable to our TT250s, Hawks, Storms and other china factory carbs. and also the michuni variant would be nice also. So we can get one of these and swap the pain in the @$$ factory one out. it would make tuning these so much easier......Lests start with the TT250 since thats what i own hehe.

Im assuming you are talking about the TT250 which is what i have. It is located on bottom front (front as in closest to front of bike) of the carb. Im not sure what the new ones look like but on my 2015 the screw was grinded down to look like a brass cap. but you have to take carb off and use a dremmle and small cutting disc to make a slot to be able to use a flat head screw driver to adjust it and or remove it and replace it with one that already has a screw head.

I saw a video of someone using the same one in a pz30 and a vm26. I think it might work.

So your saying a fuel mixture screw for a Makuni vm26 should work on the stock Hawk carb. Once that is confirmed then great we will have an answer to the Makuni carbs and the factory Hawk Carb. But what about the TT250s

I tried the generic red screw sold on line, and it didn't fit. The shape is close but the threads are off. So I turned one out of brass. The metric threads were 6mm x.075. The tip was so thin, .030 inch. It wanted to snap off ! |

Idle Screw and Mikuni VM26 Clone on TT250
I bought one of the red screws and it fit fine on my Mikuni vm26 clone. The needle taper looks a bit different but it seems to work ok. I still have some work to do dialing in the Mikuni, but accel and off idle are now working fine - I just have a pretty bad backfire on closed throttle higher rpms. Here is what I have done to date:
Before I dropped the needle clip to richen it up I had a bad hesitation just off idle, and richening up the pilot jet did not help. Dropping the needle clip to raise the needle and richen initial slide opening seems to have cured that issue. I am going to start a new thread with my results as soon as I get this dialed in.
