What Luggage Is Everyone Using??

Hey everyone.

I've got dual sport on the mind big time and will be ordering a Hi-Bird 250 in the next couple months.

I'm going to be using it as an around town bike and possibly as a commuter to work (40 miles each way).

I'm wondering what kind of luggage everyone is using on their bikes?? I think I'll go with a tail bag and some saddle bags...but is anyone using anything different??

If so, post up some pictures!!!

This action packer tote is cheap $15 and has worked very well for me.

I've got one of those in the picture. I think it is the 26litre. It is big enough to fit my helmet and a pair of gloves. The quality is OK and it has got a quick release meganism if you want to remove it.

That quick release deal is the ticket. I might have to go for one of those.
That JC Whittney site has Med. and Large do you know which is equivalent to yours?

Did you figure out if it was the medium or large?

Your rack (seems odd saying that to a man 8O ) looks to be much bigger than mine, which measures in at about 7" long and 11" wide.

size does matter

Ok, my rack might not be bigger than yours. Hahaha
Rack seems to be roughly 11 inches wide at the seat, but only about 9 inches at the tail light. It's lenght is about 10 inches.

I seem to recall the box as being 26litres, but can't find any proof of that.
The dimension according to the box it which it was packed in says:
46cm * 38.5cm * 30cm
which I think translates to roughly:
19 inches * 15 inches * 12 inches.

It seems to be the Medium box on the JC Whitney website.

Thanks for the info. It looks like it would be the Medium at JcW, given the specs provided.

Your rack is about 3 inches longer than mine ( 8O ), I think...so that mounting plate looks like it would hang over the end of mine about 2 inches, roughly. And so I feel the need to ask, would that mounting plate be okay if the two rear bolts were on the very end of the rack? Sorry if the answer seems obvious, but I'm not exactly sure how it mounts.

Thanks!

I like the idea that the trunks can be removed. I know that I would like to find something soon.

Mine is not easily removable, but it was cheap.
