Templar 250X cracks on carb boot. Bonus question, Keihin PE carb vs stock carb.
Hi all! Quick question. Does anyone know a good replacement for the carb boot on the 250 templar X? Mine is all cracked. I don't think it's leaking air yet, but I have a feeling it's in my near future. Additionally, since I'll be taking the carb off to replace the boot, should I just replace the carb altogether? I've heard some good things about the stock carb, and some bad things. I'm not unhappy with it, but I have a brand new keihin carb just sitting in a box, collecting dust. Might as well switch, right?

There are Nibbi ones on Amazon for about 15 bucks. Probably what I will order when mine crack. If you have a good Keihin carb laying around of the right size...I would use it.

Yes. Templar shares lots of parts with 20 year old Honda CRF 250. The front axel assembly, bearing and seals appear to be identical. When I start looking for parts, I usually try parts for that bike if I can't find Templar parts.

Ahhh, was hoping someone knows the measurements. I was hoping to swap it out in one go. Thanks though, I'll measure it when I get to it.

You were spot on!! Finally got around to taking off the boot and measuring it, and the link you shared is an exact fit! Engine side opening is 30mm, the bolt spacing is 61mm, and the carb side opening is 35mm. Thanks!

The boot came in, but unfortunately it's a little too big... The bolts fit, and all the openings are the right sizes, but it's metal, so you can't really bend it in any way. Also it points either up, or down depending on how you mount it, but the OEM boot points in, towards the inside of the bike. Just wanted to let you know. It might fit better if you have an aftermarket carb though...

Dammit...thanks for the heads up. I will keep looking and buy the next one. Chinese rubber never lasts very long, and this is something I will need to deal with sooner than later. I have the ability...I may just build one if forced, and utilize a section of straight hose for the carb connect. In the meantime, you can smear some "Right Stuff" rtv sealant on the exterior of your boot to re-seal it temporarily. |

I found another boot that miiiight fit. It comes in in about a week. I'll let you know if it fits. I spent HOURS looking for something that may fit. Really surprised there aren't any direct replacement made for the templar, considering it's a fairly popular bike outside of the US. Worst comes to come I'll just have to contact xpro and ask. Not sure how that's gonna go though, since I didn't buy the bike from them...
Oh and also the nibbi boot that didn't quite fit; people in the reviews were saying that they cut theirs to fit better. So I guess that's an option too? I was considering making a Frankenstein boot out of a bunch of parts hose clamped together, but I'd rather get something as a one piece mold ya know? Quote:

If you purchased it from powersportsmax I would contact them first about the cracked boot

No, bought the bike used. Great condition, but it’s been sitting in a garage for about a year. I’m guessing why the boot cracked.

I see replacement intake "Carb Intake Adapter Boot Rubber Pipe Flange"
WITH dimensions on ebay. There are many of them My advise is remove it, take measurements. A micrometer, or just a ruler. You will find one.

It keeps tickling my mind if a Keihin from/for like a Honda CRF 230 could be made to fit. Because I've always liked that little extra jump you get with an accelerator pump.
