One piece seat modification
I wanted easy access to the internals of my bike, so I bolted the seats together.
I also replaced the screws holding the underseat cover down with pairs of neodymium magnets. Now all it takes to access the belly of the bike is a quick pull |

Great idea paisley, Do you still have it secured by the key latch that releases the rear seat? So you just turn the key to release the back part then pull both off the magnets together? rj

Very nice! I like one-piece seats ... so much easier to get to everything.

RJ: yes the combined seat is still secured by the front hook and the rear lock.
Thanks for the kind words, all. Glad to help. |

Looking at your first pic PR are they held together by just the 1 screw with large flat washer through the tongue part where rear seat goes into front seat receiver?????? for lack of better terminology.
Also do you get any sideways movement on the front seat or is it all pretty solid. rj

That I can tell you: the front seat has two tabs each side, wich secure it to the frame members, avoiding side to side movement.

There's no lateral movement I can tell. It will be even better once I upgrade the size of the magnets holding down the rear of the front seat.

I mean, the underside of the front seat has two tabs that fit over the sides of the frame preventing it to move side to side, besides the front prong that inserts below the bolt of the fuel tank and the rear tab that is bolted.

If you just use the magnets in place of the bolts, can you have a 2 piece seat that only requires the key to release? My bike is not here for me to check.

The saddles won't lock in that configuration; anyone could remove them without a key.
