Aren't these engines already a "big bore kit" slapped on a small 125cc engine to bring it up that 229 range?

Might be time to find that "replacement for displacement" (higher compression, port/polished head, smog pump boosted, 4 valve 223cc OHC engine swap, etc.)

I think the replacement is displacement.. for me it comes in the form of an xl500s engine.

The csc tt250 head is better out box than hawk head but is a emissions head so you have to block off emissions port. Mine is a non emission head i found searching. The only thing to look for is bolt holes and bore size bore is 67mm if your not sure. They range in price from 50 to 150 dollars.

Also get a thin shim head gasket if you can the one i got is around .016 thick. Stock is .041 thick and my piston is in hole .030. Make sure to use copperkote or hylamar sealer.

I've not heard of one and as Azhule points out, these started as a 125. That said, they did take the small block Chevy all the way to a 400!

I figure one of our resident parts guys (mjstef or NZ) may delve into this someday. They'd probably sell one to every CG rider here.

There are larger CG motors (in the 270 range, rounded up to 300), but that's liquid cooled territory. I haven't seen one that size that is air cooled.
Search Taobao for CG270, CG300, etc. Get creative with the numbers you search for and you'll find some cool stuff.

As far as harbor freight or box stock project lifan motors around 16 hp the cylinders separerate from the block which is one piece. Honda blocks are stronger a little we run them in go cart racing a couple years ago. Was suppose to be cheap they changed rules every week. Till the cost was the same as a briggs animal motor.
