Some Hawk upgrades
Been busy today. My new folding shifter, my new 520 chain and sprocket conversion, and my new performance exhaust pipe. It's a bit louder now lol. 😁
Installed the bark busters too, but they're absolute crap. Last edited by OneLeggedRider; 10-30-2019 at 01:59 AM. |

Here's the junk brush guards. Had to chase the threads on the outer mounting blocks before installing them. Then the right side went on no problem, but the left side split as soon as I put any torque on it. I patched it with epoxy for now and it will work, but I'm getting a better quality set when I get my fat bars.

POTENTIALLY EMBARASSING NOOB QUESTION ALERT
Ok, now that we got that out of the way, some set up. I've read that the Hawk/TT250 share a similar (or the same?) engine. Is that true? If so, I'm also pretty sure the TT250/SG250 are the same engine as well, which would mean that the Hawk/SG250 have either essentially or exactly the same engine. If all of the above is accurate, would that pipe work on an SG250? It looks great and I think it would make an excellent addition to an SG250 Scrambler build. If it would work, where can it be found? |

The head pipe would definitely bolt on. If the mid pipe and muffler would work is a different question, and I would be inclined to say that there may be a bit of modification required to make it fit and work correctly. In large part due to the fact that the SG250 has twin shocks, and the muffler would be trying to occupy the same space as the right hand shock.
An exhaust that will likely fit a lot better would be the scrambler exhaust Cleveland Cyclewerks sells for their ACE, which is a similar style bike to the SG250. https://clevelandspeedshop.com/colle...ambler-exhaust

Spent some more on the Hawk. Got heavy duty tubes for it. It was running way too lean after putting on the performance exhaust pipe so I took the mixture screw from 1.5 to 2.25 turns out and swapped the 110 main jet for a 115.
It's starting, idling and running better now but I think it's still a little lean and I haven't opened up the airbox yet. So I bought .45mm drill bits for the pilot jet. If I'm not happy with that I'm just gonna get a better carb. Also got another helmet and am shopping for a mesh motorcycle jacket for summer riding. You're right, even though it's DOT certified I probably shouldn't trust it. I'll just go back to wearing the cheap safety glasses and hope for the best.. Hahaha!
