My Hawk 250 tried to kill me and almost succeeded.
Jun 9th 2023 around 8AM -
The front brake line came loose and caught a knob on the tire, stopping the front tire instantly, forcing me to turn hard left and endoing over the bike, slamming my left temple, side, and knee into the ground. Had full gear besides pants - 6 fractured ribs, 2 broken teeth, road rash to left knee and right hand. Police report photos - Initial point of impact; The trophy; WARNING! Small amount of blood. https://www.chinariders.net/picture....pictureid=2277 Down for repairs - Ignored the chaos, I've been hurt for a month so there has been no cleaning or organizing lol New shoes - I had aftermarket blinkers and mirrors, so just put the stock back on the left side, replaced shifter, clutch lever, super glued the plastics back together and she's running and riding, did a short ride around the property Friday, Handlerbars are bent...windshield is trash. Upcoming check replacing handle bars, grips, clutch levers, and hand guards with all new ones. Any suggestions welcomed. |

Thank God you're ok. Man...ouch. Any reason for the brake line to come loose and, more importantly, prevent it? Maybe zip tie them to the holster thingies?

I actually noticed it rubbing when I first got it and I just pulled it up outta the way, bent the holders a little further out and ziptied it to them, it fixed it, somewhere over the course of 800 miles it must have come loose again. Now I just have a zip tie on the handle bars holding the line up and out of the way, I plan on finding a better solution before riding, but it works lol. Also, just getting tires without knobs can prevent it lol, like my replacements. |

Me too.
Oddly enough I think the credit goes to watching too much Moto Madness. I dunno how anyone rides without gear. No way to be sure, but I think an $80 helmet saved my life. |

How do you like the ECX? I've thought about getting one cause you can find them so cheap, but worried about reliability and parts availability. I run my bashers with my dogs and when they catch one well....even the arrmas get broke from time to time. Usually go through a body or two a year, few pinion gears, a motor....something. Lol. I need to fix my area up, bad. I have little hangers for my cars as well, they're usually all hung up with the bike gear by my workbench but as you can tell from the pic I just kinda...gave up for a while. All that stuff sitting there needed something fixed, besides the .22 lol Base camp, senton, kraton and TRX4m all broke something back to back. |

The ECX lineup is what Traxxas was 20 years ago. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Traxxas sold the old molds to Horizon Hobby and it's just re-branded...kinda like these China bikes! lol They are plastic and there are failure points, most notably the shoulder bolt in the front steering c-block. It likes to pull out. Easily solved with aluminum upgraded c-block and a little blue loctite. The other failure point is the plastic slider drive shafts, they like to twist. I upgraded to the Traxxas big beefy plastic drive shafts, been on ever since. Then the usual RPM upgrades...steering system, a-arms, etc. New steering servo. The shocks will do ok, but the Traxxas big bores are the way to go. I bought the brushless version, which I'm not even sure if they sell it anymore. Still running the same ESC and motor that it came with...going on like 5 years or so. But, I don't run them a lot...usually just racing, no bashing. I've beat on the bone stock one with a kicker ramp. So far it's held up. All it needed was a new 17t motor. It's brushed and the 15t it comes with is just too weak to run it. I should post a pic of my workshop...makes yours look clean.

This is the second one of these I have seen this week.
Someone on a different forum had a usb cable do the same thing. Stopped the front wheel completely. He even had similar injuries. I think the same ones.
