It Happened
Finally. Mrs. C admitted that I was right. What was surprising was that it came out of the blue.
In the winter gripe thread I mentioned that we turned on a second humidifier because of how dry the house is and we were both pretty miserable. I mentioned to her this morning that she seemed to sleep pretty good last night. She said she had a shot of my Brown Dog Whiskey before bed and that, wait for it, I was right that the whiskey would help her sleep when she has a head cold. She also said it was yucky.

After further discussion, it was discovered that a disinterested third party, the owner of the distillery where I get the Brown Dog, told her the same thing I told her years ago.
It's still a win.

when I was at the St Augustine distillery, during the tour, they made an Old Fashioned that was probably the best I've ever had. it had every bit of the bourbon flavor without any burn at all. I've not been able to duplicate it at home.

I also owned a sailboat on Lake Norman for about 22 years. Some of the best lake sailing days I guess I will ever have. I see you are from Mooresville. Nice town IMO. |

I can say the same about the Cuba Libre I had at the Bacardi Distillery in San Juan. Best ever.

Sometimes it's the product, sometimes it's the setting.

If you're a whisky fan this is a perfect opportunity to grow the collection. Try a new flavor every night 'till she likes one or you have enough for your enjoyment. Kidding aside, I've found that even some people who dislike easy/mild whiskeys will sometimes like something like a punchy ass cask strength Islay that I'd never expect them to like. |
