How big is too big for an oil cooler?
First off, thanks everyone who posts on these fourms, because of your reviews, recommendations, and guides I bought a TT250 back in 2020. Since then I've put in an aftermarket exhaust, mikuni carb with pod filter, relocated the battery and all electronics beneath the seat, and a few other mods. I currently live in Arizona and a cool day is about 110 degrees. I've thought about putting a oil cooler on in the past and I think this summer might be the time to install one. I've seen a few posts here and videos of guys installing kits that are 65 or 125 ML that have everything included that at the time were around $40. Alot if those kits are now closer to $80 on amazon and I started looking around at other options. From what I can tell the only specific piece i need is the adapter that attaches to the engine and from there I should be able to use whatever cooler and lines that I want. I know even with the 65 ML cooler there isnt alot of space to mount it. Assuming I had the space to mount a bigger cooler how big of a cooler could I use without engine issues? For the sake of argument let's say I put two 125 ML units on or even put a regular motorcycle oil cooler that was even four times or more bigger than that, would the engine be able to move that much oil through the cooler without issue? Thanks in advance.

A single 125ml is more than enough. On my hawk i installed two 65ml coolers. I got then tucked under the tank wings.

I've seen your setup before and I really like the way its tucked in. That was the initial way I wanted to do it last summer but never got around to it.

I have a single 125ml cooler and even with the fender blocking a third of it at all times it is more than adequate for the job even on a 100 degree day. Honestly, even a single 65ml is more than enough to do the job if it has good airflow.
I bought the 125ml unit because of how I wanted to mount it - knowing it would be blocked. I wanted my cooler to be as far up and out of the way as possible, and it worked out perfectly. It's well protected.
