W. Virginia guy ready to buy in Medellin
I need a tour bike for South America. I am ready to purchase and get started here in Medellin, Columbia. I have been to the AKT shop here twice and plan to buy in the next day or so. I was told I could not test ride the TT 250 so I am on here looking for problems and advice. Please chime in with words of buying and mechanical tips. I look forward to participating in the community here.

Welcome; we are glad you joined us.
The AKT TT250 is very similar to the very popular, Hawk motorcycles sold in the United States. I'm confident the bike will serve you well, especially if you ride the bike locally for several hundred miles before you depart. AKT has a reputation for good customer service. I'm sure they will help you resolve any problems occurring during the bike's break-in mileage. I suggest you start another thread entitled AKT TT250/Hawk Suitable for South American Tour? in our Dual Sport Forum. The riders there are very familiar with the Hawk/TT250, and will give you excellent advice. http://www.chinariders.net/forumdisplay.php?f=101

Wasn't Joe Berk from CSC just down there? Maybe he can point this member in the right direction?
