Storm 250 (DB-08-250)

I thought I would upload what I have in pictures and let anyone else know what they are in for.
So far - so - reasonable lol Every now and again, I remind myself what I paid to have this NEW bike delivered to my door, and once again I start laughing. I ordered Black, and Green arrived (2nd choice) but that's fine. I kinda like it.

I won't go over everything again, as I have some of it covered in another post It does look to be a "new-ish" product, and so far parts are not massively available. Technically it is a DB-08-250 (It was written on the Chinese packing box) And some parts can be found HERE

I'll try and keep this updated with anything new so if you’re thinking of buying one, you will , at least have a point of reference. Just to stress again, I didn't have any instructions AT ALL with this, and I assembled it all myself. So it can be done, with a little ingenuity, and possibly some stupidity.. so not recommended.

Reasonable care had been taken during packing, but it wasn't completely unscathed. I guess I can live with it... I also had too many fasteners. Not sure what the clip type ones were for. Look like they could attach something to some plastic part??

I'll be adding to this in a week or so mine shipped yesterday. Are there any fasteners you would upgrade if you had it to do over again? I'm going to do something about that exhaust and smog setup soon but I will take others advice and break the bike in first,

A bit soon to tell yet.. I can't say I like unscrewing stuff just to take a side panel off, and the seat is also screwed on. My rack is only supported with 3 bolts as one wasn't long enough as the plastic didn't fit (out of alignment) But as you can see from these pictures.. It works fine Maybe as time passes I'll change a few out. OH!.. Throw the tool kit away.. (Apart from the allen key) it will round all your bolts eventually... The allen key is the most useful thing in there.. I'm 5'6" and you can see it's tall for me, so you should be fine in that department..

On your rack substitute an extra long bolt and nut you have laying around for the front support. I used a long supplied one with stacked washers for the rear.

Bit of a crap shoot which bolts go where I guess. I'll do that next time I fancy checking everything over.. I welded my "egg" heat shield mount back on. I saw saw a replacement header for these.. NO EGG!!

35 bucks, shipping will probably be ~20.00 When I (if I) ever have any spare cash I may go for that.. Of course, they are sending me a replacement, so I may hack the old one first..

I had a lot to do that day, and the delivery was outside the time they stated it would be delivered (by about 26 hours) So I couldn't go anwhere until I knew they were coming. The build went into the night and I had to call it a day (night) Then finish up the next morning..

Some closer pics of the engine and that "egg" boy that thing gets hot.. Also took it for a spin to the local bar. That's the wifeys Harley there.. Rebuilt and painted up in metalic pink by me , her friend is a cancer survivor, so it's a tribute.

I'll be looking for a smaller rear sprocket, or maybe a 1 tooth + on the front. It needs just a little more, and the bottom end can handle it easily, in fact I start off in 2nd mostly now. And now here is the not so good.

The vent in the tank, pumps gas out if you fill right up, as the breather hole is submerged and it just pours out through the cap. And as you see... the paint isn't fuel proof. I have a claim in for that. Not too hopeful, but I'll keep you posted. Also the shield bracket was poorly welded (tacked) on.. I have a claim for that too, although it's a relitively easy fix, I want to see how they respond. I plan on replacing the rear shock too. I have one on order. More on that when it arrives..

I'll start looking around to see if I can find a suitable breather tube style cap. If I find one that works I'll let you know. I don't expect this bike to be perfect but I like to tinker and its an inexpensive way to see if I want to get back into riding. l'll mostly use it checking on fences around the place and riding back and forth to the shop less than 8 miles on country roads round trip.

Thanks, that would be great... Yes, a really odd choice of cap for a scrambler..??

It will be perfect for what you plan to use it for

If we find the right fittings we could almost rig up something like this. If it causes problems we just plug it and try something else.

Yeah, I was thinking a balloon over the vent or something.. Not having a screw fitting will be a challenge.

The tank is pressurized.. maybe I'll see if it works by gravity alone?

My 2005 Kinroad 200 GY-1 needed a few more miles of top speed so a few days ago my local mechanic installed this 43 tooth rear sprocket designed for a 150 cc 2012 Honda Cargo, now i can cruise at 60 mph confortably, maybe I´ll install a smaller one maybe 40 tooth? maybe ...
