2 Up On The Hawk
Anyone else have the opportunity to try it? Wife had to get her oil changed and the shop is a couple miles up the highway. The wind was/is really whippin' today, 20mph with gusts in the 30's. When I left our road and got onto the highway to pick her up, I was heading into the wind with a couple hills to climb. Had to downshift to 4th to get up them, but normally don't have to. That was because of the wind. Wife goes a little over 100 lbs, maybe 110 or so. But, with my fat ass, that makes us closer to 400 than we should be. The Hawk did fine on the way home, downhill with the wind at our back and all. What struck me was on the way back uphill, I could not detect a lack of power into that wind. 4th gear, 55mph the whole time, same as when I went up it solo to get her. I was impressed with that little Hawk.

The bike can do it (you discovered!!!!). But it isn't fun, even in perfect conditions. These little bikes we ride are not 2up worthy in any true sense
But the Hawk came through. And on your escapade today, the extra weight helped buck the wind! Sure, downshift...and get there! 15-20 hp is barely there with one up

Well, the passenger pegs aren't just for show. They actually work. I was happy to put the Hawk to the test, knowing it was going to be a short trip. For what it is, and for the price, I am a very satisfied customer.
I imagine strapping it to the back of a motor home and cruising the campgrounds with my wife on the back. ;-)

I removed my passenger pegs during assembly. I am the size of 2 Asian people, so I count as 2 up just by myself.

And realistic. Oh, and my first gen Templar X did NOT come with passenger footpegs. But they buckled with newer versions

It's very realistic though. At 6ft 4 and 260lbs, I am quite literally an average Asian man and woman combined in weight. The Hawk has a capacity of 330lbs, meaning even if I did carry a passenger, they can only weigh 70lbs, which narrows down my potential passengers to little kids or a hobbit.

There's a couple of tweakers that hang around the gas station here in my town that can't weigh more than 70-80 lbs.
Wouldn't really recommend taking them for a ride though, they'll probably strip your wiring harness for copper.

What's the penalty for going over the 330 lb weight capacity? Frame cracks in half and full wipe out?

You will be more likely to bottom out the suspension, I doubt the frame is going to crack under overloaded normal street conditions. |

Nah, the frame will be fine. it's mainly the suspension not being up to the task. You can upgrade the rear suspension some to help with sag, or crank the preload up if riding 2 up alot. The biggest weakness on a Hawk in terms of the chassis is the rear swing arm, but even that will be fine under normal road use.
