Oil Housing Assembly(Hawk)
I did some searching before posting this, could not find what i need.
As i was changing my oil on the hawk. I realized there is no spring in the housing. im Assuming it was assembled without one installed. With out the spring there is no filtration of the oil. (this doesn't startle me just yet because it has clean oil and only has about 90 miles on it) but can anyone tell me where i can get a new spring? or the size of the original spring? |

Just so I'm sure, there was no spring under the strainer cap? That's a new one.
The spring for a Honda XR200 should be a perfect match, as long as it's '81-'83 or '86 on. The '84-'85 models were OHC, and possibly used different strainer springs. You can probably find a replacement at www.rockymountainatvmc.com or www.bikebandit.com

BTW, while you're ordering the spring, order a new cap to keep on hand. Cracking one with no replacement will ruin your day.

Rocky Mountain atv is like an hour away from me I called them they said they don't have a part number for the hawk spring. I thought about trying to guess by size, but have no idea what kind of pressure it needs on the filter itself. Thanks for the heads up about the extra cap. I can try to see if the Honda spring fits I'll update when I find out. |

Does anyone make magnetic caps and magnetic drain plugs for it?

No, because the cap is aluminum. That said, you could epoxy a small rare earth magnet under the cap.

That's cool. Most of the Hondoids only use the cap and strainer as an oil drain, and do not have a drain plug, per se. Typically, China ATV's that use a Hondoid vertical motor will have a drain plug, so they could use a magnetic bolt.
A strainer cap with a magnet would be cheap insurance.

The kit is for a Chinese GY6 scooter. Magnetic drain plugs for both engine and gearbox and of course the strainer cap.

Negative sir and not due for another change yet. That pic was just a contribution so at least you can visulize. I sure the pressure won't matter it's just there to secure that strainer. Heck it looks about like a waterhose strainer to me.
