CG200 engine replaced CDI, now has funny issue.
I just replaced my CDI. It is an AC system.
Before replacing it I had no real top end power, above 5000 rpm. Now it pulls strongly at large throttle openings after replacing the CDI. With the new CDI there is a different issue. When the bike idles it has a sort of intermittent burp or cough. The idling is rough, until warm but the cough never goes away. I have also noticed a lot more backkick when using the kick starter, and it makes a big clanking noise sometimes, as if the backkick violently disengages the Kickstarter. Using the electric start simply does not work, though it did not do it with the old CDI. The violent disengaging did happen before. I have a few possible causes. 1. Timing is too advanced? 2. Timing chain jumped a tooth? 3. The stator possibly moved, changing the ignition timing, though I am not sure if this is possible. 4. The valve clearances are too tight, though I did check it recently. The pilot circuit is two 2 1.4 turns out, as the pilot jet is still original. It does smell a little rich when idling, but nothing serious. It is not like it reeks of fuel at the exhaust. Any ideas? |

The new CDi probably has the time advanced higher than the stock.
