So Cal ride in May???

Not a ton of us here from California, but thanks to CSC and SSR that is changing. If anyone is interested, May would be a good time to ride from Devore, CA up the Cajon Pass via old National Trails Highway (Route 66) and the old Cajon Pass Wagon Trail (Forest Road 3N45). The ride would include an unavoidable but not unpleasant 2 mile portion of the I15. It's a pretty quick 40 mile ride (round trip), more than half the route is paved. When I was commuting to LA I used to take this route when traffic was bad, and its a nice ride. This video is a bit long, but it shows the portion that is now 3N45.

I know Joe Berk used to organize So. Cal. CSC rides for both the TT250 and RX3 before he retired from there, but surely someone there can get the word out to their customers? Member Essayons with a TT250 is in Fontana so there would be two of you for sure, but I know there are more now that the word is out. I think you might be one of the only Californians, at least So. Californians with a XF250

Culcune you might be right, I feel so alone! The xf250 owners who join here usually don't stick around long. I might have to go to AZ and check out that Wickenburg ride do you guys do it again.

Anyways, Joe Berk seems like a cool dude but he banned non CSC bikes from his rides if I remember correctly.

I know he banned non-CSC bikes from his Baja rides, and I am guessing he banned them from the local ones, too.

2lz I looked up Volcano and realize you aren't too far from Grass Valley. I have been camping up there a bunch and I have taken the bike a time or two. Fabulous riding up that way!

Here's a slight route deviation to avoid I-15. I've seen minivans and honda civics on this route.
So, my Impreza would make it without any issues?

I'm in! I'm available the weekend of the 15th and 16th in May. What size group were you thinking? I can post it on CSC owners group in Meetup if you like.

That's awesome! That weekend would work for me too. If you can share with CSC owners that would be awesome. I think a group of 5-6 would be OK but smaller is fine too. This is a pretty easy dirt road loop, nothing technical.

Damn.... Sorry to miss this. I've always wanted a pic with Q and his cousin "dh-XF250".

Ok, i'll post on CSC Meetup group and the CSC TT250 Owners Group on FB. Since it was your idea I want to run a few things by you.

1) Are all brands of bikes welcomed?
2) Meeting time? Start time? Turn around point? Trip duration?
3) Can we make the meeting location the Mc Donalds west of the I-15 and Sierra Avenue? It will be easier to find for those that aren't from the area.
4) Can we make the turn around point the intersection of Mariposa Road and Ranchero Road? At the location there is a Starbucks, Circle K, Fat Burger, Buffalo's Express, Chronic Tacos, Krispy Crunchy Chicken and a 76 gas station.
5) Are all skill levels welcomed?

Turn around point here: https://goo.gl/maps/WnP1CW1Y3DFF66Kz7

The trip as mapped is 20.7 miles each way.

In the grand scheme of things, you guys aren't even that far from the CSC headquarters, and I am mentioning that to put it into perspective for riders who own CSC bikes and bought them directly from the store but don't necessarily live close by the store.

2LZ--you know you want to take a trip down to So. Cal....you know you do!

Thanks for mapping and marking Essayons! I'm super flexible so let me know what you think about the info below.

1) Are all brands of bikes welcomed? Yes!
2) Meeting time? Start time? Turn around point? Trip duration?
Meet: May 15, 2021 @ 8:30 AM Ride: 9:00 AM Trip Duration: Approximately 2.5 Hours, but there is potential to extend it a bit if riders want to avoid the highway portion. I will do a pre-ride and check out some other forest road possibilities. Diverting around the highway could add a half hour of forest road in each direction.
3) Can we make the meeting location the Mc Donalds west of the I-15 and Sierra Avenue? It will be easier to find for those that aren't from the area. That would be perfect

4) Can we make the turn around point the intersection of Mariposa Road and Ranchero Road? At the location there is a Starbucks, Circle K, Fat Burger, Buffalo's Express, Chronic Tacos, Krispy Crunchy Chicken and a 76 gas station.
Also a great idea

5) Are all skill levels welcomed?
Absolutely! I consider myself a beginner and this is a pretty mellow ride.
