Lifan Xpect Upgrades

I have an Xpect coming in soon and I've been hunting down fun mechanical tasks to learn and do once it gets here. So, I'm sort of curious about upgrading it's oil filter specifically. I'm aware it uses a wire mesh cap, but perhaps some sort of online product can replace it and filter out much smaller particles? Also, has anyone managed to replace the rear drum break with a disk break? Outside of that...What are some other niche mods you can think of?

Currently I just plan on replacing my shifter, mirrors, front sprocket to 17t, and chain to higher quality. Rest of my plans are to tear the whole thing down and reassemble the thing with better grease, locktite, anti seize, and torqued (as best as possible) hardware. Also checking the wiring.

Thanks for reading!

It has an oil centrifugal filtration system as well, as do all CG clones. That is what it uses to help separate out finer particulates. The screen is mainly there to prevent large particles and shavings from going into the oil pump and damaging it or clogging it up.

The way the oil system works would also prevent the use of a traditional filter media as it would have to draw the oil through the filter instead of forcing it through under pressure.

The centrifugal system works well. Honda still uses it on most of their small horizontal engines, including the Grom engine. Service intervals of the centrifuge on the Honda are every 7500 miles. Same could be followed for fhe Clones.

Keep in mind that the Honda CG engine is designed to survive neglect and abuse. This includes old dirty oil in dusty environments. You giving it frequent fresh oil changes is more than it was ever designed to handle.

There is nothing wrong with a drum rear brake, don't bother.
