X1000 CG 150 / Jincheng JC150
Finally found a CG clone, these are very rare in the US.
The CG engine and its derivatives are very common but the original bike itself is hard to find. Branded as X1000 CG 150, it's probably a sub-variant of a Jincheng JC150 which is in turn an 80's Honda CG 125 clone. It has a 162fmj engine with an odd shift pattern, Neutral is at the top and all the 5 gears are down. It also has a km/h speedometer. Unfortunately, it's in rough shape, was clearly dropped a couple of times, but fairly complete and runs. Got some extra parts with it too. I'm hoping to revive it this winter. I'll probably take it apart completely and replace what's broken, maybe mix in a few original CG parts from ebay. |

That was not very uncommon for small cc and cheap motorcycle in the 80s.

It took me a long time to make some progress with this project, as parts need to be substituted with equivalents from similar bikes.
Luckily most of the parts I could find on ebay. Just about everything was bent or broken to some degree. Foot pegs, handlebars, triple trees, front wheel bent, and so on. Still missing a bunch of things, but we're getting there slowly. I rode it around a bit, it's geared super low and feels very torquey for a 150cc. I actually started in 2nd a couple of times without realizing it. This also means it isn't very fast, I'd be surprised if it could do more than 50-55 MPH. Here's a short walkaround clip. |
