I asked this to a tech at CSC as well, and he said he sets his just under 2k after it's fully warmed up.
Not sure if I should start a different thread, as it's related, but does anyone know why a TW200 seems to automatically hold the engine at higher revs when the choke is engaged? Then once turned it's fully opened, it returns back to normal idling speed. This would be so great for the TT250, as I always have to hold the throttle for around 2min until it will stay on even with the choke fully closed. I know this is what the manual even says to do, but I'm finding myself jealous of this feature on my buddy's Tdub. |

These carbs are simple mechanical chokes with no enrichment. Idle air is what bypasses the choke plate and slide, and fuel is added through idle mitxture screw circuit and pulled via vacuum. The TW and many other styles of carbs use a separate idle circuit that draws air and mixes it with the idle fuel, aka the enrichment circuit that Mudflap mentiones. That added air is why the idle increases.
A PE carb does have an enrichment circuit, and the PE28FL is a great upgrade if you want to go down that path.

Good to know, thanks! That definitely might be something I'll consider in the near future.
