Correct carb adjustments for the hawk 250
Does anyone have any advice on the carb settings on a hawk 250? I have messed with it several times and I can't get it right I have a 100 jet and I might upgrade to a 110 soon.
Here is a video of my bike it still runs about the same. What do you guys think? I have a Mikuni clone. |

Mikuni clone. With genuine mikuni jets (or OEM equivalents from JetsRus). Completely stock bike. Altitude below 5000ft. temps???
Main 105 (If at sea level and the temps are below 50F it MAY need a 107.5 or 110) Pilot 25. Needle 4th notch down from the top Idle mixture screw 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated. (the screw underneath, not on the side). Idle mixture will likely need a little fine tuning, the 1 1/2 turns is just a generic starting point, but should be fairly close.

Can you be more specific as to what throttle position it's not running right? The idle mixture screw/pilot jet controls the mixture at idle up to about 1/8 throttle. The slide cutout from about 1/8 to 1/4, the needle about 1/4 to 3/4, and main jet about 3/4 to full throttle. The circuits overlap some.
If you really like fine tuning the curves of the pilot circuit an main circuits, you can replace the pilot air jet and main air jet (located at the entry of these carbs). Then you can play with different needle tapers... But what you're probably wanting is a main jet suggestion. I'd use a 105 or 110 Mikuni on a stock motor.

Also, your valve lash should be set as it can ack like a netting issue.

Im sorry, I just listened to the video and it's hard to tell much like that. My 1st question is, was the bike fully warmed up? Like at least 5 minutes... 10 is better. 2nd, I couldn't tell if you had the choke on.

Unless it's less than about 45f outside the choke should be completely off in 5 or 6 minutes. So you might start by turning the idle mixture screw out about 1/4 - 1/2 turn. The bike will never rev properly with a butterfly style choke closed.

Trust me, the jetting figures I put up have worked for hundreds of bikes. Give it a try.
EDIT: The jets you bought are knock offs and inconsistent, but they should work well enough. The issue is, you bought only main jets. There is also the pilot jet to consider, and I don't know what your carb has.
