Tbr7. Tire options? And chain short
Hi all. New 2020. Tbr7, got 102 miles?.. or kmh. Does any one have any
Information about other, better tires for dirt, and still be good on pavement? Ill need D.O.T. tires. Also fork oil for the front?. I drained out 5 ounces of What LOOKED like dirty vegetable oil. Added 5 ounces dex/merc III. Also, anyone reporting short stock chain? Mine's 126 links. Difficult to Adjust, seems like the throttle side moves further forward then the other Side can, not by much, however makes adjusting the chain difficult. It's either proper slack, all forwards, and crooked, or adjusted straight and too Tight chain seems to be stretching fast. Thanks all Christopher |

My 2019 TBR came with 128 link stock chain, swapping to a 17 tooth was a son of a beach, adjusters had to go ALL THE WAY FORWARD to get me close to desired chain tension.
Had a similar issue with wheel adjustment, chain side went forward EZ, brake\rotor side would not budge. Removed the rear tire, adjusters, swingarm etc. and greased everything and it worked out in the end. Just swapped the fork oil, stock was 190ml ( 6.5 oz) both forks dead even, yeah it looked like oil, a little mucky... swapped for BEL RAY 15w same 190 ml and the difference for me ( street driving mainly ) ... imperceptible sorry to say. Curious why do you say you need DOT tires ? |

yes i will be looking for tire options also that are about 50 50 or 60 40 a little more dirt than road......stock tires are fine in the dry stuff but any thing with mud not so much...
i tried putting a 17 tooth on mine but with the stock chain new it didn't quite have enough.... it has stretched a little now so it may fit...

I agree that the stock tires are garbage in the mud. I hope to wear them out this year and get a set of better tires next season. The make and models I was planning on getting were the kenda k270 for the rear and the shinko 244 for the front. They are not full knobby like I would prefer, but are a good compromise for the price.

Hey Christopher, good to hear of another chinarider on Long Island.
I'm on the South Shore (Seaford\Massapequa) Maybe we'll grab a ride someday. Not too much offroad access by me in Nassau ( that I know of at least ) |

Not exactly, i used a tire size conversion chart to find the closest size in inches denominations. For the rear tire the closest I could find was 4.60/100-17. And for the front 2.75/90-19. I haven’t double checked these measurements in a while, so do your own research to make sure I haven’t misled you.
