Same &^%^, Different Summer
Well, CA is on fire, once again. I really shouldn't complain. Others have it FAR worse than we do. I keep the defensible space cut and the fingers well crossed.....but there's one part of it that no one escapes unless you live on the ocean. The smoke. Here's a before and after from my back porch, looking north.

I have several relatives out in CA, though the relatives outside LA aren't impacted due to prevailing winds. Do you have to keep your house closed up tight to keep the smoke out?

We keep the house closed and the HVAC putting along. It helps but the house is older and isn't very well sealed. That's a continuous project but I have the majority of it zipped up pretty well now. The thing about wildfire ash is it's extremely tiny compared to campfire smoke and gets into and through everything. Still though, we're luckier than many. Some smoke beats having your house burn down.

Good luck with that .Lots of fires here as well ,been very dry ,hot ,and we have had some lightening ,although a big wind farm project has been blamed for the worst fire that is way out of control .

Having a similar situation out here... our "Same &^%^ different summer" is full of Hail and Tornadoes again... a few fires too, but not as bad as what you have down there
Stay safe out there... being burned to death will be just as bad as being beaten to death with hail or thrown several miles by a nadoe...

Here's hoping you and Mrs. 2LZ remain safe and sound in your home. We're experiencing the usual fires in BC as well. We're having a brief reprieve from the heat right now, with a sprinkling of rain in the forecast; that usually means not enough rain to put out fires, but enough lightning to start more.

This time of year, we get most of the foothill weather from the east side of the Sierra's from Nevada. It's always muggy and staticky from the desert.
