Fitment was easy.

I opted for 50cm there is a 55cm and smaller 45cm/40cm/35cm. (2" increments)

Kept it clear but it also comes in smoke black

With the high rally seat and upright sitting position I think it will do well at highway speed. It is also wider than stock...

Still have the 5cm of screen knob adjustment.

Will be taking a ride to the auto parts store to collect some oil filters as the 1st service is getting close.

would also like to mention my 1st (-) negative gripe with the bike and that would be the size of the horn button (huge) and position of the highbeam flick switch.

would accidentally hit them trying to cancel indicators or move clutch finger..I had to drill another locating hole in the bar to clock the switch block in an attempt to prevent this from happening. Also I might add grip puppies and my hand grasp seems tight and cramps.
Do you mind sharing the oil filter numbers with us? Thanks.

I wrote down the CFMoto oil filter part number somewhere, but it was so long I gave up on it.

After searching and comparing prices the KN-177 is a suggested alternative and I could find it cheaper and readily available...I grabbed 2 on sale saving a few more $.

Made in Thailand, has a nut for easy turning which is a bonus.

I don't think quality could be any worse than OEM.

Have a full fuel tank to get through before I hit first service though.

XLsior, I really appreciate your information. I'm currently waiting to return to my home and pickup my MT from the dealer the first week in April. Please keep the information and experiences coming. Happy trails.

I'm preoccupied now with securing property and preparing for a cyclone (hurricane/typhoon) named Alfred to hit my location, so not much riding planned for the current week.

So far I'm very happy with the MT450. But its definitely not a dualsport or a city/urban commuter.

Trip to the spillway

After all the ex tropical cyclone rain here on the east coast of Australia, I took the MT450 for a small trip to the local dam spill way.

this was a good 24hr after the major rain deluge.

Pretty impressive amount of water. The drop off was a bit far to get the other end view.

The bike handled the steep incline road to get to the location well most of the roads were fairly clear in my area.

Still got a 1/4 to go on the break in period. I have ordered a tool box for the rack and am putting together a puncture repair kit prior to doing any major distance travel.

Ali Express GS1200 tool box

There is a listed CFMoto 450MT tool box, But I was not to keen on the mounting bracketry or the price.

Alternatively I found this GS1200 tool box for a bit less. Reading the reviews someone fitted it to their MT800 with some mods...

So I saved a few $ and went for the BWM tool box.

put both brackets on the back using 1 flipped to allow for 2 rack clamps.

then made a plate and welded it to the existing CFMoto luggage hook bracket for a front mount.

Turn out OK and feels strong enough, Though i think my chain guard might foul on bottoming out the suspension. Its close.

The key locking end cap did not come with a gasket so had to make my own with some foam tape cut strip.

Was it worth the price...not sure though it did come with an inner tool bag.

Break in and oil change

Hit 977km and got home on an empty tank.

So will call it broken in now...

The oil change was easy enough, a couple of sparkles but nothing of concern. the sump bolt is magnetic and the amount of ferrous material was also fine.

The stock filter was on tight and the KN-177 went on no issues.

CFMoto recommends 10w40 however the user manual lists 15w40 and that's what I have in stock. I live in a subtropical climate with no risk of freezing so I think the bike wont notice a difference.

But doing my own servicing I lose 1 year of warranty from 3 to 2. however for the amount and type of riding I do, paying for 2 years of certified service would probably cost more than if something went wrong in the 3rd year to repair...

This is how the Australian warranty works, but the MT450 has like a 4-5 year warranty in Europe...So I think I'll be fine, /touch wood.

Switch Modification

So...
I got fed up accidentally flicking high beams all the time.

Clocking the switch block helped but the switch was still being an issue.

I decided to shave it down with dremel/rotary tool and finish with fine sand paper...but you could easily do this with a file and or sand paper on its own.

maybe 5mm cut down. Still works as intended just not as proud.

Will see how it goes. Can always shave off more if needs be.

Filled the tank with 98ron will see how economy pans out. 91ron seemed fine but I think range was down 360km empty...

the 98ron fill up is indicating a range of 440+km but I'll go by the trip meter.

The KPT uses the same filter.
