And 40K miles.

The new CHT.

It's a 2 channel unit for each cylinder, though I wish it was a split screen.

What a Ural looks like when it's out of gas.

Finally got Mrs. C out for a longish ride on the scooter yesterday. We tried a different place for breakfast in a couple of towns southwest of us. No wonder there's a lot of overweight people in the US. Huge portions.

She's gotten better mentally the last couple of weeks. Though fully recovered from the Big C, she'd been in a funk for awhile. I sort of bitched about it to her. She asked what I'd do if I'd had it and told her I'd be out living each day like it was my last just like when I got clobbered by the car. She said she just can't do what I do. Her doc told her the same thing. Then it was okay.

She's seen that I'm enjoying going to the gym, so she's going to give it a shot next week.

New front tire day yesterday. I got about 5K miles out of the old one, so that ain't too shabby. The new one has a 6 ply rating and a weight rating of 737 lbs, so it should work as a sidecar tire.

This tire seemed easier to mount, either that or I'm getting better at it. Pam cooking spray works a heck of a lot better than soapy water for lubing the bead. And I was impressed with how the tire was packaged. One in a blue moon, I'll get a Duro in a box, usually just shrink wrapped with a shipping label slapped on it. This one came in a box and wrapped like tires were when I was a kid, though with something more like mylar than treated paper.

I ended up having to reshim the bearings again. I'm still waiting on that front hub, now I'm hearing January, before I get it. I also solved the problem of the 'warped' rotor. The rotor hub was bent. A few well placed whacks with a hammer and a drift set it right.

I am liking this new front tire..A LOT. Maybe it's really round. I may eventually be replacing the other three Duro tires with the MMG tires.

I do believe I pissed someone off today because of my experience with the RPOC.

I spotted a 2013 Gear Up roller on marketplace. No engine, trans, or sidecar. Almost 9000km on the odometer. Been up for months. I inquired and got a sales pitch. The guy is asking new money for used parts. The whole thing would be nice but not at what he's asking. I wouldn't feel right asking that amount of money for the Maggot and that runs.

Anyway, I say I'm interested in the front wheel and then just for the hub.
The guy comes back with how great shape the tire is and would I want the wheel with or without the rotor because the rotor is a Brembo. I ask how old the tire is and he says 'new in 2016'. Hmmm, the tire is at least 8 years old and pretty much past its 'use by' date. It would cost me fuel and cash to recycle.

He then comes up with $550 for the wheel with the rotor, $450 without the rotor. So I point out that the rims on the 2011 to 2018 models are under an NHTSA recall due to cracking and that the rotor may be a Brembo but was also used on Ducatis, Kaws, Yammys, Hondas and some HD and can be had at swap meet for five to ten bucks. I offered $150 for the front hub which was about 50% of a new hub.

Silence.

I know that Chinabike riders need to be mindful of upkeep on their rides, but I didn't think it extended to fuel filters.

I tossed what I had of my plastic bodied filters after the third one started to deteriorate and sent it's bits into Arpoks' right carb. I bought 2 Ape Racing glass and metal filters, the kind you can take apart to clean. I've been running one on the Maggot since 2011.

Jeez, one flowed poorly and the other, not at all. Being a former highly paid troubleshooter, I had to find out why. Pretty obvious when I took them apart.

The stud on the left has two holes but is blocked by chips and burrs. The right one has only one hole, so the gas has nowhere to go. Ten minutes at the drill press fixed the problem.

BTW, I left a 1 star review on Amazon.

It seems like the only thing you can get fired for is threatening a coworker. Stealing and ineptitude are acceptable.
