What gear do you wear??

Was wonder what gear you usually wear when riding you Hawk,, KPX etc,.

I plan to do a combo of road, gravel roads and some single track trails on a 250 and will at time have wife on back.. for sure helmets for both, how about shirts, pants, shorts, shoes, boots etc.

Do not have the space to get a lot of stuff so need the min to have fun and get protected somewhat.. grew up racing motocross and we just had on dungrees, shirt, chest protection pad, moto boots, helmets, googles gloves.. learned how to NOT fall..

I've been ATGATT for the 3yrs I've been riding, and hope that won't change much but I know how it goes. 90% of the time I'm on the street, and feel lucky when I find a stretch of gravel road or a dirt road leading to a forest preserve. The least amount of gear I ever wore while riding was at the first couple MSF classes, just helmet/gloves/jeans/long shirt. Other than that, it's head-to-toe riding gear.

Although in a month I'm taking a camping/riding trip to finally check out the Bong Recreational area in southern WI, so that'll be the first time spending a few hours on a dedicated dirt track. Just gotta make sure all my screws are tight, and try not to leave the earth. Maybe I should buy a Fox moto jersey to fit in.

I actually want to get some of this motocross stuff, and be able to put some lighter riding gear with minimal padding on top. Do those specific ones feel sturdy? The amazon stuff scares me when it comes to actual safety, as I swapped all my padding out with proper CE2 armor.

I'm looking at a bunch of reviews of the jacket, looks like many people went down in these and reported good results.

haven't gone down, so I suppose that's a good thing. I doubt the armor is as good of quality. going slower speeds I think it should provide some protection.

My gear depends on where/how I ride. On-road, abrasion protection is very important. Off-road, you will find that impact protection matters more.

A dual sport compromise is to wear a thinner, unarmored, jacket and pants that help with the abrasion protection, and then Armor similar to what Sport Rider linked, on it or under it.

I wear full textile riding gear all the time, both jacket and pants.

For winter and the shoulder seasons I have a combo of the Alpinestars Halo jacket and the Rev'It Sands H20 pants. For summer I have a matched set of Sedici Marco mesh jacket and pants.

On the street I have a pair of TCX Hero boots, and when adventure riding or going exclusively off road I wear motocross boots. My current Bilt motocross boots are kind of crap and I will probably replace them with some O'Neal or Aplinestars ones later this season. When riding off road, most of the violence seems to be inflicted on your feet and shins. So don't compromise there.

For street and adventure trips I use a Bell Qualifier helmet, and purely off road I have a Bell MX-9 (not the Adventure one, the motocross one) and a pair of Blur goggles.

"Hot" be damned, my gear has probably saved my bacon more than once. I also have several bikes that are not Chinese bikes and are significantly heavier and faster. Tipping over with your 275 pound Chinabike at 25 MPH in the mud is one thing, but say wiping out at 85 on asphalt and subsequently getting run over by your own 515+ pound Honda Shadow is another. So far all of my major get-offs have been on dirt but you never know what'll happen.

If you have bullshit gear you will find out at the precise moment when you contact the ground, which is not coincidentally the same moment you don't want it to be.
