SCAR on the KPX

After it was suggested on another thread. I've been looking at the SCAR (S.C. Adventure Route). SO, I'm in the early planning stages of doing this on the KPX. I need to outfit the bike a little better first. Depending on time, I'll (start at the Aiken SC start point) I would like to do the whole thing. But I may shorten it to the Upstate portion. We will see how it works out.

Yeah I'm gonna head that way first I'm leaning toward running the upper route, then cut it in half at the Douglas Pin. Then maybe later I'll run the Lowcountry half of the map.

I gotta get some spare parts in here first. I wanna carry a couple tubes, little air compressor, of course tools and tire spoons. I also need to get in a cell phone holder, and wire in a USB charging port. Its gonna be a dang blast. I'm gonna see if I can get a wing man to go with me. That could be you Sport Rider. Grab a bike and lets hit the road. LOL A co worker has a TW 200 so maybe I can talk him into it as well

I have the route downloaded to the GAIA app. Looks like its gonna be myself and a coworker. Can the KPX keep up with the bullet proof T DUB? We shall see exactly what she is made of for sure. It looks a little over 600 miles. I'll post pics here on this forum. I won't have any video as I don't have the equipment. Wish I did.

I don't think you will have any problems keeping up with the TW. That 600 miles should break the KPX in real good.

I didn't mean keeping up as in speed, I mean lasting through the trip. The TW is a tank. I don't see why the KPX wouldn't. Its a great bike. Maybe I need to get some equipment and start Vlogging long rides only on Chinese Bikes. I'm sure Yammie Goob would love how great they would do.

The bike will be fine. I did a 215 mile ride last Saturday with 136 miles of forest service roads carrying my camping setup with no problems. Have over 4600 miles on the bike so far and have some multi day trips I'm planning this year. I would recommend putting an O Ring chain on and keeping up with the regular maintenance. I've only had to adjust the chain twice in 4600 miles.

Awesome, You've got some miles on yours. Thats great to hear how well your bike is doing. I love hearing how good of a bang for the buck these Chinese bikes are. My bike has virtually none yet, I'm ashamed to say. Not even 1,000 yet. But that's about to change. I am a stickler for taking care of my bikes. I do have an RK Oring chain for the bike on the shelf ready to go. Right now I'm still running the stock chain.

That sounds like an exciting adventure you have planned! The SCAR (S.C. Adventure Route) is known for its scenic beauty and challenging terrain, making it a great choice for motorcycle enthusiasts seeking an off-road experience.

Starting your journey at the Aiken SC start point and potentially riding the entire route or the Upstate portion showcases the flexibility of the SCAR. It allows you to tailor your trip based on your preferences and the time you have available.

Before embarking on the SCAR, it's indeed a good idea to ensure your bike is properly outfitted for the adventure. Off-road riding often requires some additional modifications and equipment to handle varying terrains and potential challenges along the way. Make sure to assess your bike's suspension, tires, and protective gear to ensure they are suitable for the off-road conditions you'll encounter.

Additionally, it might be helpful to research and gather information about the specific sections you plan to ride, including trail conditions, potential accommodations, and available services. This will aid in your planning and enhance your overall experience.

Remember to pack essentials such as tools, spare parts, navigation equipment, and sufficient supplies for food and water, especially if you plan to venture into less populated areas. It's always better to be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances during your adventure.

Lastly, don't forget to share your experiences and updates with the community. We would love to hear about your journey and any insights you gain along the SCAR.

Wishing you the best of luck in your planning stages and a fantastic time exploring the SCAR on your KPX! Enjoy the thrilling adventure and the stunning landscapes that await you.

Safe travels!
