For W&G. The mower pile.

This is a bad view and only part of it.

No good ones for me to drag home today.

FastDoc 10-29-2010 06:07 PM

Holy cow. It looks like where old mowers go to die!

You don't happen to have a pile like that b ut for, lets say, Corvettes? :D

wjack57 10-29-2010 10:37 PM

Thats not a mower pile. Thats a possible pile.

katoranger 10-30-2010 09:33 AM

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I have explored quite of bit of this yard. He has some old stuff in the back. Only Chevettes though. Never seen a Corvette in here.

There was a Trail 70 sitting there, but it was extremely rough. I just couldn't see myself doing anything with it either.

I have pulled at least a dozen motorcycles, 5-6 garden tractors, tillers, and some other things from this pile.

Amen!

How does it work? Do you pay scrap metal prices for this stuff? I'd be all over a Trail 70, rough or not. I think it would be a blast with a China 125.

I want the bus. :D

FastDoc 10-30-2010 12:15 PM

Agreed!

Lord forgive me but I'm scanning CL for an old Honda horizontal with a blown engine really cheap to Lifanize. :P

Jim 10-30-2010 08:16 PM

On that subject I just completed the registration process for mine...

mizke 10-30-2010 09:02 PM

somewhere in that pile is a old mower just begging to be turbo'ed and raced

katoranger 10-30-2010 11:05 PM

I usually give about scrap value for whatever I haul out. I am sure I could get the trail 70 for about $30. Only problem is that is was missing so much and what it had was damaged. If it is still there on Tuesday when I go back I may pick it up.

Sometimes it is better to spend alittle more for a project to start with. I have learned that lesson a few times over.

I know I know, I just did it today, and I've been busy with work, and then we went to the Heat game, you should go some time if you haven't been yet... Anyways I will post about it in the other bike topic I have soon so as not to hijack this one too much further.

Wow! 8O Redneck paradise! :D I would rather browse the "mower pile" than any shopping mall! ;)

Spud :)

katoranger 10-31-2010 08:58 AM

Oh, you don't dig too deep. You never know what might be living in there.

I was getting some parts out of suburban and I saw something slither under the seat. Those parts stayed.

I don't blame you, Allen! I hate snakes! I can't understand the ophiophilists (snake lovers)!

katoranger 10-31-2010 11:12 PM

I don't care if the are venomous are not. I leave them all alone.

Getting colder so parts picking season is coming on. Need a wiper motor and a coolant overflow tank.

katoranger 11-12-2010 12:13 PM

I took some more pics today after cashing in some scrap metal.

Ack! Who could just throw away a Wing like that?

katoranger 11-12-2010 12:20 PM

I sent that pic to a friend. We may be going to rescue it tomorrow.

It hasn't been there long.

I was SO thinking the same thing. I hate cemetaries. I guess any doctor would. 8)

SpudRider 11-12-2010 01:00 PM

That Wing must contain a lot of valuable parts, Allen! 8O That junk yard is quite a playground. ;) I'm getting Georgia on my mind! :)

Spud :)

FastDoc 11-12-2010 01:04 PM

Georgia is an awesome state. I especially like the northwestern corner.

katoranger 11-12-2010 01:45 PM

I am uploading some more pics from my phone.

There is alot of older stuff in the yard. I have crawled over most of it.

Very little modern.

FastDoc 11-12-2010 04:10 PM

Its funny. What some people see as junk we see as opportunity. Perhaps by 'recycling' WE are the true greenies?

Jim 11-12-2010 08:15 PM

I'd probably take the cb if I were closer :P

Weldangrind 11-12-2010 10:41 PM

Jump on the CB and the Wing. Stay on Gerald's good side. :D

If I'm ever in your area, I'm hoping for a tour.

katoranger 11-13-2010 11:30 AM

Gerald (and his wife) like my girls. They go with me alot.

Jim, that CB450 is pretty rough. I am going to let it stay.

Doc, I make fun of one of my coworkers who considers himself a green person. I tell him that redneck's invented recycling.

I catch him throwing his imported soda cans in the garbage. Make a point to pull it out and put it into the appropriate container. I never claim to be green.

My home recycling bin often contains more than the much larger trash container.

Gerald is very honest good guy. He knows that he can trust me and lets me have free reign in back. Often he makes people walk in. Profiling works.

katoranger 11-13-2010 11:33 AM

I forgot to say.

Visitors are always welcome. You may have to stay in the shed with Buford.

If you guys are needing any older car parts let me know. Gerald probably has it.

FastDoc 11-13-2010 11:46 AM

My buddy's 1969 Ford XL is completly restored except the rear left wheel arch chrome trim. He can't find it anywhere!

katoranger 11-13-2010 12:32 PM

Send me a pic. I will try to find it. Lots of old fords in there.

Gerald does not use a computer. He works on a cash basis. Price goes up for checks and he doesn't take american express.

Also, I know his inventory better than he does.

FastDoc 11-13-2010 12:33 PM

Thanks. I will be seeing Ron tonight and will get pic for you.

katoranger 11-13-2010 12:36 PM

I might be able to get over there again next Saturday. I actually have to work next week.

katoranger 12-03-2010 09:25 AM

Appears to be a 76 GL1000.
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...A2MDkuanBn.jpg

I believe we will be going back with some cash for this and the other one.

Weldangrind 12-03-2010 11:02 AM

If the fairing and bags are wasted, it might be a fun bobber project.

katoranger 12-03-2010 11:09 AM

I believe that is what my friend wishes to do to one. He has a couple already in pieces and one undergoing a restoration. These would be for parts/ebay funding.

Allen

FastDoc 12-03-2010 11:24 AM

Remember the first generation GL's were not originally designed to be baggers. They were SUPERBIKES. The most powerful technically advanced machines of their day. Not unlike they are now in that way. :P

They make really cool cafe racers.
8)
Go for it!

katoranger 02-10-2011 08:37 PM

Today's find. Pretty rough, but it kicks over.
