Ok, it has to be said
these ads are getting beyond stupid.
I tried to respond to a thread recently and the ad was so bad that I didn’t even have a way to X out of it. The only option was to click through to some stupid mattress website. Here is a screenshot. Greed! if you are going to restrict images and be really cheap about that, you really should not be having ads like this that are so terrible that they prevent the users from even posting a response. Who is running this forum exactly? have you ever been on a different forum on the Internet? To see what they are like? I’m damn frustrated. I wanted to make a response to somebody’s post. In fact it was to the single track riding in Galloway New Jersey. It was a really cool video. But I couldn’t even respond because the ad had no X to close it! If you are going to have ads that are this intrusive, that PREVENT PEOPLE FROM POSTING, you really ought to update the functionality of the forum so that it works like other forums. Who don’t even have ads this big and profitable, yet allow images to be posted. Very frustrated and here’s a picture of the ad. Linked out to another site because you don’t allow images that are larger than a postage stamp that are the size of images in the 1990s on computers. And at the same time, you sure don’t seem to have any limit on the size of ads. Just on the pictures we can attach to posts. . https://i.ibb.co/mC7m6bG/B0-DD0-AF3-...E6-A0-C770.png |
It's all Cheesy's fault. He's the new guy. :lmao:
Yeah, I've noticed that it has gotten worse in the pass few weeks. I'll ask the Admin about it. |
I use AdGuard to stop pop-ups. I never see Ads. Even on YouTube (occasional hiccups). They have a free trial to test it out. Worth every penny.

OK. I have calmed down. But that was really frustrating. The points are pretty valid however. Thanks for checking with the admin. I feel like they should probably look at other forms online to see how things work typically. This one’s not quite working right |
Agreed, the ads have gotten way out of hand lately... evry visit has a full page after your first click, and at least 4 more per page in the site...
|
I gotta play dumb here because I don’t see the ads. Come to think of it, in all the years I’ve been on here, I’ve never seen any.
|
this is why god made adblock plus.
|
question. Doesn't ad block software take away the revenue from the site that you are visiting? Because they don’t get credit for the ad display?
I don’t mind that there are ads. But what I screenshotted it is garbage. there are limits. Limits to where the user will just stop using the site. |

. . . . . . . . . :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: |
Agreed, the ads are very annoying!
|
I never see ads either. I use the Brave web browser, which has ad blocking built in.
|
What are ads?
https://pi-hole.net/ $5 Raspberry Pi, old laptop Ethernet USB adapter, old phone USB charger as power supply. Internet Router sends out Pi IP address as every device in the house's DNS server through DCHP. Solved.:p https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...7131/image.png And that's just a 24 hour window of time. That's how bad it's become on the internet. |
I think the ads should at least be for relevant products, like Thread Locker

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. For some reason I wasn't seeing them.
There shouldn't have been any 'between page load' ads. For some reason Google runs it's own 'ad experiments' now without asking the Admin first. :grr: I just removed that option now, so you shouldn't be seeing any full-page ads between page loads anymore. Sorry 'bout that. |

hey, I just wanted to say thank you. I am as vocal with thanks as I am with complaints. Ha ha
now any ads that go full screen are completely my fault. Like when I try to click on "new posts" at the top but 50% of the time I miss and hit www.brozz250.com. Lolol That one’s on me. But thank you very much for taking care of that. It was a little bit annoying before. But it got really annoying when I couldn’t even get out of it. Ha ha thanks again. |
Same here, thanks Quadz for getting that fixed up for us!
|
Why do I have to continually click on the down arrow, to drop an ad? On every. Single. Page...?
|
Why are any of you browsing without uBlock Origin installed?
Get Firefox. Install the uBlock Origin plugin. Achieve nirvana. Yes, you can get it for your phone too. |

The whole thread is a AdBlocker promotion :)
|
Ad blockers are built by the same sons of biznatches who build the ads. Don't get stuck in that endless loop. Step out of it with Firefox like zero said.

Likewise, I am guessing that is mostly because i access via Firefox on the PC? Quote:
Oddly enough i have an old Pi sitting here that i originally used for game emulation, browsing and streaming. Its a newer Model 3B that has the Ethernet port built in. May need to look into repurposing it for that use since it has sat unused for well over a year now. |

A Pi 3B will be more than adequate to run pihole. I run mine on Pi Zero because I have so many of them just laying about back when you could buy them for just $5 ea from Micro Center before the whole chip shortage fiasco. I also have Pi 4 but that I have dedicated to run NextCloudPi. Think replacing Google Drive, Google Calendar, Contacts etc. Moving all that cloud data back to your house so Google and other companies that pay google for access don't access your data and use it for their own purposes or resale to marketing companies. The main cloud server runs off of a spare SSD from an upgraded computer that got a bigger one (USB3 to SATA adapter) and that gets backed up nightly in diffs to a multi terabyte spinning rust external hard drive (USB). My phone and tablets are all hooked in so that I have all my photos and contacts with me at all time, all served out by my home Pi 4. Then I have wiregaurd on the Pi 4 as well so when my phone leaves my house and goes onto the public phone company networks it sends all traffic through an encrypted tunnel pipe back to my home network so the phone company doesn't copy all my network traffic. It's all quite a nice setup. For a while I was running both pihole and NextCloud on the Pi 4 but for redundancy I moved pihole to a dedicated Pi Zero. I might move it back again one day but if the 4 ever goes down then the Zero is still up and running and keeping the whole home network running. I am savvy enough to run my own dedicated Linux distros on my Pi but I was lazy with the Zero and put DietPi on it. If you are not as savvy then DietPi can automate a lot for you and make it seem easier to manage an SBC. |
