JerryHawk250's Lifan KPX250

1 Attachment(s)
I figured i would start a new thread for my Lifan KPX250 instead of in someone else thread. That way everything I have done will be in one place. First thing is i promised i would wait a year before buying another bike. Well I guess I broke a promise because Venom Motorsports had to release such an awesome looking bike. :hehe: It's all Venom's and Lifan's fault for getting the bike we all wanted. Well maybe mine too. lol

Lets talk about specifications. How can you not want the KPX250. It has what all us old Hawk owners always asked for for RPS but never fully gotten. The Hawk DXL did get EFI, USD forks and a Digital Speedometer but that's about it. The Lifan KPX250 is a true 250cc engine with an OHC which more than likely may use the same cam as the Honda CRF230F but will have to verify. It makes 20 hp / 7500 rpm combined with a 6 speed transmission should be able to do 74mph with no problem. It's Fuel Injected with and ECU that can be tuned. I'm sure the KPX is tuned very lean. I'll be messing with that eventually to fine tune. It does have USD forks which should have less flex than the Hawk Standard forks. I'll be able to do a side by side comparison since I'll have both bikes.

Now lets talk about the Venom Motorsports. These guy's are awesome in everyway. Always answered every question I threw at them. After sales support is even better. They took care of any issues I had no questions asked. Tech support guys have answered questions and actually sent me videos on how to correct the issue. Hats off to Shawn who is now a member on the Forum. You can now ask him direct through the forum. Venom has also been a sponsor of this forum for a long time and has kept us going. We really appreciate them.

So the bike had become available On June 17,2022 so before it was even posted on the website i ordered my KPX because I know they wouldn't last long. Now it is on the website and on sale. I even used the "JERRYHAWK250" discount code and get the extra $50 off. :D https://www.venommotorsportsusa.com/...d-street-legal

So my KPX250 got shipped out yesterday and is on a R&L Carrier's Truck heading my way. The bike is coming out of there ANAHEIM, CA warehouse. I am so excited. Like a kid at Christmas. :yay:

Here's pictures of the bike being loaded on the truck That Moose sent me last night. Tracking estimates the bike arriving Monday but I think it will get here on Friday. I Hope. lol

Dusman 06-22-2022 08:31 AM

This is awesome! I can't wait to hear all about the KPX250. Honestly, this bike checks all the boxes for me: Lifan quality components, 6 speed tranny, a true 250 with OHC, EFI, and a digital cluster.

Looking at the parts list...

Unlike the X-Pect, the KPX actually has an oil filter.

That is correct.

DANG Jerry! This is going to be awesome. I’m stoked for you and can’t wait to see how this plays out. We want ALL of the details

I don't think I'll be disappointed. Lol There's going to be a few videos on this one. I'll be sure to post as much as I can in detail. I can see some Hawk owners upgrading to the KPX.

Megadan 06-22-2022 09:20 PM

See if you can get some proper specs out of them. I am curious about the total suspension travel front and rear. I don't expect 12 inches like a proper off road bike, but more than 6 or 7 would be nice. That and if there is any adjustment on them

China Rider 27 06-22-2022 09:36 PM

New bike of such importance, begs for a tear down and rebuild with measurements of critical components! Just sayin! NBS strong, ride hard!

JerryHawk250 06-22-2022 10:02 PM

Geez guys! Can I get the bike first and ride it. :lmao:

You’re starting to sound like me. What? You want to ride the bike and not tear it apart? Ha ha ha

Everyone should kick in and we should send one up to the back road development team for teardown.

Note the oil tube. By removing the oil tube it will make it easy to install an oil cooler. I just have to verify the banjo bolt size once I get the bike before ordering hose and fittings.

TominMO 06-23-2022 08:06 AM

This is looking more and more like the perfect 250cc Chinese dualsport.

JerryHawk250 06-23-2022 08:21 AM

This is the oil cooler I'll be using. It's a 80ml aluminum stack plate bar type cooler. I think i already have braided oil lines with fittings in my box of extra parts.

Dang I may have to get another bike! Can anyone spare an extra room when the wife kicks me out :lmao:

Punch that motor out to 300cc to get 24 HP and add water cooling or no and we would have the contender for the perfect overall Chinese Dual sport! Lifan?

You could mount that cooler upside down for more complete and easier oil changes.

Teklock 06-23-2022 11:55 AM

Does anyone know how long ago the KPX appeared on the EPA xls?

Well hopefully Lifan will bring the KP250 to the US soon. It's water cooled and put out about 26 hp. https://www.lifanmotos.net/product/show/19

It just came out on there May listing.

JerryHawk250 06-24-2022 07:41 AM

The bike has arrived at the delivery terminal at 5am. I'm anxiously waiting for that delivery call. :yay: I can see I'm not getting no work done today at the office. :lmao:

Sir kayakalot 06-24-2022 09:40 AM

I officially declare June 24 as JerryHawk Xmas day

:lmao: Well I haven't gotten the call yet and tracking still shows it at the terminal. I'll call them if it doesn't move by noon. If they tell me Monday i guess I'll have to make a trip to the terminal to pick it up. I'm not wasting a weekend waiting.

If the status is "Arrived at destination terminal" I'm pretty sure it will go "out for delivery" today. They didn't call me until the delivery guy was in my parking lot yesterday.

I'll make sure to call them as no one will be home to receive it and I'm about a 20 minute drive away.

JerryHawk250 06-24-2022 11:45 AM

I just called and was told it will be Monday before delivery. Looks like I'll be taking a road trip to the terminal after lunch. Not waiting till Monday.

Sir kayakalot 06-24-2022 06:26 PM

Well, what do you guys think?

Is Jerry out riding his new bike, or is he in jail for causing a scene at the terminal to pick up the bike?

Boatguy 06-24-2022 06:33 PM

I really don’t like the fact that this thread keeps updating. Ha ha ha.

I don’t want to see any more new notifications about this thread until it’s pictures of a new bike and Jerry on it. Ha ha ha ha.

(Joking... but only kind of.)

I'm with you...we will never know when the bike ACTUALLY arrives! :)

JerryHawk250 06-24-2022 11:29 PM

Well guys, I did pick it up and assembled it. Video will be up later as it is processing right now. The bike is way better than I thought it would look and ride. Be patient, it will be worth the wait. :yay:
This bike is tall. I'm 5'10" and on my toes. Definitely for you tall guy like megadan. Make the hawk feel small. Seat is nice and comfy too. Seem to be geared just right. I only took it down the street as I don't have insurance and plate yet. That has to wait till Monday when the notary tag shop opens. Stay tuned.

Great video! Thanks.

Megadan 06-25-2022 12:24 AM

I commented on youtube, but I will say the same thing here. THe lighting package on this bike is really impressive. How smooth is that single? I never paid attention as far as if this motor is counter balanced or not. Sounds pretty good though. The seat height thing sounds right. The specs say it's closer to 36 inches than 35, so it's about an inch higher than a standard Hawk. That's one reason dual sports appeal to my tall self.

Yes she's counter balance and smooth. I'm used to the low seat on my Vulcan S. Lol also standard mid pegs threw me off the first time. Lol she's a tall one but got use to it quick. I hope the rain holds off so I can get a little riding in locally. Need to register and tag her.

JerryHawk250 06-25-2022 12:34 AM

I can say one thing. Low-end power feels good.

Boatguy 06-25-2022 07:09 AM

After watching the video, it’s weird how similar it is to the xpect, yet at the same time has the differences that make it stand out.

Congratulations on the new toy, Jerry!

Looks like it’ll be fun!

It's definitely on the higher quality end . I'll make a walk around video today.
