Suggestions for the 2017 RX3
I thought I'd post some suggestions for the 2017 model RX3
Here's a link to the current changes, year by year. How would you improve the 2017 model? |
detours, I'm with you on most of your list, especially the front brake, correct the speedo and the helmet lock.
I'll go with a more friendly remap to bring some usable torque below 5000 rpms. To me, that would be a HUGE improvement. |
Great thread!
Brighter indicator lights Larger all steel gas tank, remove the plastic 'wings', so a decent size magnetic tank bag will fit. route the rear brake line away from the exhaust pipe. |
double the power.

Good one on the gas tank. A full, usable 4 gallons would be awesome :) |
Higher temperature Thermostat ( ? 90C ? )
19" front rim/tire with Dual Front Brake Rotor/Caliper braking system with a slightly larger better master cylinder on the front, for ALL RX3 bikes from this day onward  18" rear rim/tire option so us off road riders can get some low pressure Tubliss riding in Brighter Brake Light/Housing using Phillips 1157R LED brake light and Turn Signal/Housing using Phillips 1156 LED turn signals would be the best IMO... sure you will end up with those old school, bulky, and ugly "Bug Eyes" for turn signals... but they are DAMN BRIGHT!!! and will get peoples attention A Copper/High Compression Head Gasket :) All I would really care about is the "poor braking" and 2 rotors up front on a hefty bike usually fixes those problems :hehe: |
I'd change the location of one from Azusa, CA to my garage!
How much more can they do and maintain the all important price point? An ECU re-map, correcting the MPH, helmet lock, sintered brake pads as stock to improve braking performance, 13T counter sprocket stock would all be items that can be done in the current price point. Redesign of tanks, suspension, braking system, lighting all add $ to the price tag. |
Only complaint I have is the LCD display panel is too bright when riding at night. All it would take is a simple coding change to allow for one combination of buttons or other to dim the display to the owners preference.
And we could keep the price at $3495. Cheers, Dan K. |
20 more hp and gearing to keep it off the rev limiter at highway speed.
|
Brakelight - brighter, with more/different LEDs than the taillight so it changes pattern from the taillight.
|
ECU remap options.
Beefier front crash bars, they work great, dropped it dozens of times and used my leg and foot to push it back away from the plastics. Finally gave in yesterday and the middle connection point broke (Where the U bolt holds it to the uptube of the frame). Now JBweld'd ;D |

Stretch the dangle.
Based on the reports of oversize tires rubbing the air box, I think lengthening the swing arm 30mm/1" might be a good change.

On the photo the BlackBike posted...I assume that is the 450 mule....note that the front brake is also radially mounted. That being the case I suspect the bike will have a number of subtle improvements that really do not run the manufacturing cost up much but make for a better machine. We already have a list of such 'improvements'. Now I really want to see that 450!
