interesting bike from Genuine Motorcycles
The article says the engine is made by Shineray. Looks pretty nice to me, and is a couple thousand dollars less than the Yamaha SR400.

Great looking bike. I really like the retro styling, and 400cc is a great size for all around street use including freeway commuting.
|
I like it!
|
It's based from CB400SS
http://www.honda.co.jp/pressroom/pro...0ss_2001-10-10 https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83...3%83%BBCB400SS Street term in chinese: 棍王 ("stick king" cuz early model is kickstart ONLY). |

They have a winner for sure.

I like that bike a lot. It reminds me of my first motorcycle, a 1979 Honda CB400T. However, I like the single cylinder, and the Siemens fuel injection better on this motorcycle. :)

Spud, my first street bike was a 400 Hawk too....in blue
|
Since Genuine are designing bikes to be retro, I would like to see an old enduro style bike next. A 250 thumper. Low enough seat for beginners. Kind of like the same idea that CCW has been doing a few years now with their Heist, MIsfit, and Ace. Heck, if CCW built a retro enduro with their proprietary single, I would take it!

My best friend from grade school, through high school, had a blue Honda 400 Hawk. He later sold it to his sister. He passed away about 5 years ago now.
Here is the 400 Hawk model that I liked best: http://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk...nda-cb400t.jpg |
Genuine Scooter 400cc motorcycle for 2016
Genuine Scooter Co will offer a G400C small motorcycle in 2016.
Looks like Genuine has given up on producing a maxi scooter. Unlike their scooters, it appears that the G400C will be built in mainland China, like the Mash Five Hundred. http://www.scooterfile.com/oems/genu...ycle-for-2016/ http://www.scooterfile.com/wp-conten...PM-330x220.png |
Yes, that's a nice motorcycle. :) There is another thread started on this topic at the following link. ;)

I believe the Genuine 400 is a single with dual exhaust ports, like the Honda XR 400 and the old XL500. That's what they told me on the ModernBuddy forum.
|
Thanks for the link, Spud.
|
That's what I figured. I wonder if an XR400 header would fit, rather than twin pipes. It would give it a scrambler look.

Genuine's 400cc Motorcycle
Have any of you read about or seen the new "motorcycle" that Genuine Scooter Co. will soon be importing into the USA?:yay:
It's an updated version of the Honda CB400 from the 60's and 70's. Read about it in C2W Magazine. A little bigger displacement, more horsepower and ride ability. A 400cc, 4valve, air cooled, both electric/kick start, thumper. Basically a modernized Hondaoid from the past. It supposedly will be available at Geniune's 200 USA dealers. I'm looking forward to viewing and riding this new (old) Chinese motorcycle. |
|
Yes, I've seen it referenced on this forum before, but I'm always happy to chat about it. :D
The motor is closer to a CRF motor than a CB, since it's actually a single. I'm falling in love with it. I'm already visualizing it with a set of clip-ons and rearsets. |

Interesting new addition.

Looks like genuine has more smarts than a lot of the japs. A maxie scooter is just a waste of every thing. They do nothing well and cost almost double or more than the new genuine 400. But for the uncorordinated who can't learn to shift and 10 grand of extra money......
I bought a majesty when my knee was so bad I wasn't sure I could hold a bandit up at a stop light, big mistake, should have waited till I had the knee replaced and kept the bike |
I like maxi scooters for what they are. If it's your only vehicle, it sure is handy to be able to transport groceries home on the hooks between your knees, in the trunk and under the seat. Forum member AtomicWedgie had a Silverwing 600, and it was a pleasure to ride. It cornered really well, and it had a nice low CG. It would cruise comfortably on the highway all day long.
A similar sized sport bike doesn't have any storage, unless you start adding tank bags, etc. I realize that a sport bike is built for a different purpose, but they're certainly far from utilitarian. A DS can be fitted with a trunk and panniers, but a maxi scooter is designed for cargo right out of the box. It just depends on what your needs are. /hijack |

I'm very interested in this bike. My wife has a TU250X, which she loves, but it's a bit small for me. The G400C is a little taller and longer and might be just the ticket. There's a Genuine Scooter shop near me, so it'll be easy to check them out in person when they come out next year.
|
:tup:That is one good looking bike , hit the nail on head in design and build , hope we get these down here , they would sell well I should think .

|
Where did you find that info, Cyborg?
|
interesting bike from genuine motorcycles
All the info i can find on it is on scooterfile,,it has 3 writeups on it,, all exclusive to scooterfile ,,,first look,,first ride,,,details,,,,pretty good articles,,,i'm excited about this bike,,,and also i read (through scooterfile) that there's going to be extensive performance and upgrade parts available,,,,i hope genuine gets off their duffs about parts/service tho,,,,it may just be my local dealer but the parts availability is miserable (i own a 4t stella),,,and i get all my parts online ,, i do my own service so i'm not worried about that aspect of it but parts availability is a concern for me,,,i've been looking into crossreferencing Honda cb400ss parts but there are things like efi and a few other things propriatary to the bike,,all in all i'm looking forward to getting one,,and with a few judicious tweeks it can be a homerun for me

G400c
I was looking forward to seeing one at the ims in Los Angeles ,,,got busy with work and life and didn't notice that they had it in November instead of December like they've done since Moses was a kid,,,so I'm SOL,,,,, I love it when that happens

Here's a detailed article about the G400C by the same writer of the ride report. The more I read about this bike, the more I like it.

I went down to the Denver Genuine shop yesterday to ask about the G400C, and it looks like a fairly limited release of the bike.
They're only getting a few in the first shipment in March or April. Buyers can reserve one of those and choose the color, but after that you have to pre-order on the next shipment. They aren't going to buy a bunch and keep them in stock. The shop was friendly, but their focus is obviously in scooters not motorcycles. They didn't have any brochures, specs or pics of the bike from Genuine yet. I couldn't find anything on the Genuine site either, just a few articles on scooterfile and some blog posts. I'm still interested, but I admit it took some of the wind out of my sails to see how little marketing effort is going into this bike when the launch is only three months away. |
Thanks for visiting the dealer and reporting back to us. :) It's too bad this nice little motorcycle is not generating much support from the dealers. :hmm:
|
I have to say the dealer was disappointed too. They wished they had something to give me, but Genuine hasn't even sent out posters to their dealers. Kind of hard for the dealer to drum up preorders when they have nothing to show a prospective buyer.
The other thing was that - at least at this shop - they don't refund deposits ... store credit only. So if you reserve a G400C at Sportique Scooters and change your mind after it comes in, you're stuck with $500 credit at a scooter shop. It's a tough sell to order sight unseen, without even a brochure or final specs, even with the nice review on scooterfile.com |
Thanks for posting the clarification. It seems the corporation itself is primarily responsible for the lack of support regarding the G400C. However, I do think the shop should refund your deposit if you change your mind about buying the motorcycle.
